2017 BRZ auto transmission in a pre-facelift 86?

Hi guys, 3rd gear in my 2016 auto 86 has began to slip- I have a low km auto transmission off a 2017 brz that I bought awhile ago without much thought.

Is there anything that needs to be done for the swap? Any differences in the gearing between pre and post facelift that needs to be accounted for or is it plug and play for autos?

I had a 2017 BRZ, so I am familiar with the transmission. When I first got the car, a friend had a Lexus IS 250 which apparently had the same Aisin/Warner/Toyota A960E transmission. However, this transmission in the Toyobaru twins had a modified wet torque converter and the transmission control was programmed to mimic the shifting of a dual clutch transmission. I think the transmission is the same one on my 2022 BRZ. It has a 3.538:1 first gear, 1:1 fourth gear and overdrive ratios in five and six. If there are no other details that I am aware of, a transplant would work. I would certainly transfuse the transmission soon after proof of life or before if practical. I got to drive the IS 250 and it does not in anyway feel like the same transmission. That model was considered a girly car and I took the opportunity to make fun of him when I could. His insurance was higher than you would expect because it was a hard-top convertible and was amazing to watch open and close like the Transformers. What made it tough to insure was that if the body got tweaked in the slightest, the convertible function was impossible to get right. He did in fact sell it to a woman who in short order totaled the car. Just saying the facts is not being sexist.

I consider the BRZ a girly car, being a girl and the first buyer of one in California — but I’ve been nice and not insulted all the boys wrecking so many of our lovely cars this past ten-odd years. So, like. Please don’t casually be a jerk about girls, to us or to your friends. One of those girls you’re so casually insulting could be the only one still working on Romraider XML updates, preparing an K00G expanded tables ROM for more advanced tuning of facelifts, and documenting the facelift stock tuning table changes to reduce cylinder 4 catastrophes..

I recall that in the automotive press that there are opinions floating around that in fact the BRZ/86 is considered a 'Girly' car. Over the years, there have been many automobiles that the so-called experts labeled as being more attractive to women. These same self appointed experts will label any car as 'Entry Level' as there are other more expensive and higher performance alternatives. My question is, what if the car you have is just what you want or need? Anything can be 'Entry Level'. It could be a house, a TV or even jewelry. The people talking that way have a motive; a commission. When I made fun of my friend for driving a Girly Car, it is because that is what guys do. We beat each other up for just about anything we can. When your buddies stop picking on you, it might be because they don't care or they're pissed at you. Most guys don't carry a grudge and if they do it might last about five minutes or until the beer comes out. These are all generalizations of course.
Any derisive comments I may have made are between my friend and myself and not directed to anyone else. I have a friend who questioned my calling the BRZ a sports car. Apparently I should have been driving a Porsche. OK, so I am driving an entry level sports car.
