There's a conflict/dilemma when a game sequel is being made. If the new game doesn't change/advance the game then people will complain that it is just a reskin, more of the same. If the game changes too much people will complain that the game has lost the qualities that made it great in the first place. (Assassin's Creed anyone?)
My take on STALKER 2 so far (8.2 hours) is that it is a more polished version of the first games but it is still "just" a STALKER game. The game looks like the first games style-wise, plays like the first games. This is a very good thing if you are wanting another STALKER game, not so much if you are after a modern day FPS. Am I enjoying it? Yes but so far it hasn't made me go WOW! the way CP2077 and Dying Light 2 did. Excuse me, back to the zone.

I've mentioned this before, but the Dad portion of my screenname has double meaning. I first got it when playing games with my then teenage and earlier kids way back in the day. First, because I'm their Dad, but second because I was usually just cannon fodder when playing on a console game with them.
They declared that the Dad portion stood for "Death After Death".

The only bugginess is the same bugs I've seen from a large majority of UE4 & UE5 games. They have the same strange sort of jagged edges, ghosting effects, pixelated appearance, shutters, and an almost dated yet quality looking effects/ details (if that makes sense). There is a strange inefficient appearance to the Unreal Engine and it's horribly obvious in EA WRC, Six Days in Fallujuah, and Starship Troopers. Otherwise, the only gripes of the game are how hard it is with those invisible monsters lol

Yea, I have to say I'm more a fan of Anvil and Disrupt than UE. As you say, there is something about it that isn't quite right.

50 hour impressions.
I find the overall design of the game to be a little old school. I have very little idea of the story; I am just following the journal quests. I am glad this game exists but it is not a great game. It is more of the same of what I remember of the original trilogy.

Steam sales were good to me. Was able to pick up WRC10 and the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games for super cheap!

Took advantage of one last sale. Corsair had their Xeneon OLED monitor on sale for $500 so I decided it's time to get OLED a try!

Finished STALKER 2 in 103.2 hours.
The game finishes; if you want to continue you have to load a previous save. I guess it's a bit like CP77 in that regard. My opinion hasn't changed since my 50 hour review above. I will leave it installed for the time being but I don't see much replay value. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't enjoy it more than I did. Given the lack of choice for games atm I'm thinking I will give Elden Ring a go. Highly rated, supposedly great exploration, looking at stats I should easily get 200 hours out of it if I enjoy it.

Got my Corsair Xeneon OLED monitor. The quality of picture is insane! It's quite a bit of an upgrade from my previous MSI monitor as the Corsair is OLED and has a 240hz refresh vs the 165hz as before. However, the MSI was curved and the Corsair is flat which initially threw me off. I do like that I feel I can actually take advantage of HDR now as before it just made the contrast too white. The dark colors seem more rich and it overall looks much nicer. My only complaint is the one reviewers mentioned which is brightness. On standard it is surprisingly dim. And I usually keep my screens dim. However, you can get around that by adjusting the display settings or downloading a firmware patch.
Overall, it's an awesome monitor. I'm not worried about burn in as the monitor has a 3 year warranty.
