Welp, I fired up my FR-S today, for the first time in over 9 weeks. -

She fired right up and ran like a top. After my 3 recent stunts in the hospital, the doctor nor mrs humfrz would let me drive. I drove all the way up to the dentists office to be told they want over $2,000 to pull a rotten tooth -

I'd almost forgotten what it was like to drive a fun car -

I would have taken mrs humfrz new CR-V but she said no because she has claimed it as HER car and I would just mess up all of her "settings" -

That's all.

Good to hear that you're on the mend and having the time to get some cosmetic dentistory - can't beat a Hollywood smile when driving your little sportscar..

It's been a while...way too long actually!

So life took over...kids in general plus kid's practices, games, coaching, training for new job(s), lack of motivation, etc...led me to stray from my hobby.

But now I'm back! Not only am I back, I have a second FR-S I'm building...lol. The second FR-S has really boosted my motivation to build.

Currently cleaning the engine bay of the second FR-S...lots of polishing going on...painting sections of engine happening soon. Pics coming soon.

When mrs humfrz bought "her" new car, she insisted on a trim that included a reverse camera (with superimposed safe lines on the display) and sensors that set off alarms that go off when the car gets too close to something, just in case I snuck her car out of the garage -

Oh yes, "cosmetic" dentistry - pulling a rotton rear molar. That tooth has come full circle, filling, followed by a gold cap, followed by rotting under the cap, to being pulled -

Never understood the reasons behind gold caps/teeth.. Gold jewellery can be sold when needs arise or passed to "worthy " persons when the time comes to jump off this mortal coil... BuBut what happens to gold dentistry?

There was a time when it was the best and sometimes the only method. With advances in composite materials and porcelains it fell out of general use. However, some still prefer it whether because all their other fillings are gold or for some other personal reasons like wrappers who want “Da Bling”.
As for your other question, one unsavory bunch had a way of dealing with it. It’s said that much of the jewellery coming out of Europe in the 40’s and 50’s may have come from this source.
On the other hand there are companies that buy up used dental gold and leftover scrap dental gold. Here's one:

They are an investment. Back when I started, gold was $32 an ounce; now it's about $2,338 an ounce. How about that for an ROI -
