I actually dont know if this is "resolved" or a nonissue with current touchscreens....since NOBODY ever seems to talk about it....
But to me the most annoying thing about touchscreens isnt the software, the menus or the lag... Its the fact in winter THEY DONT WORK WHILE WEARING GLOVES!!!!! I have to pull off my gloves evertime I have to touch the screen to change the menu....then pull it back on again. |

Having said that I really like LCD instruments that mimic traditional dials.

REALLY!
mrs humfrz new CR-V has a giant touch screen AND the unit has knobs. THEN it wirelessly hooks up to CarPlay on her new i-phone for another bunch of stuff to mess with. PLUS there are dozens of controls on the steering wheel and places on the instrument panel that light up with all kinds of pictures. When I drive her car, I need a co-pilot/navigator. |

I dont think im a fan of wireless carplay.
I used my phone as a navigation once (not hooking to carplay) but i didnt have it plugged in. When i got to my destination my phone was hot, and the battery was drained quite a bit. I might have been driving for an hour or so. Granted this was with an iphone 6S so things could be better now, but how much better? It'll still be draining battery as its being used. Because of this i'd rather keep things wired. |

Most modern cars are pretty half baked unfortunately. If the car Industry wants to move to all screen world they need to make using screens easier. One day...

Unless I'm going a very short distance I just plug my phone in for Android Auto (in the cars we have that have it). It's just easier.
The LYRIQ has Android Automotive built in, so I don't need screen mirroring, even though it will do it. It also has a wireless charging slot for a phone, but my phone doesn't do wireless charging. So far, I prefer the built-in experience much better. I have Google Maps, Waze, Audible, Libby, Spotify (MomHawk doesn't go anywhere without her playlists) and a couple of other apps running directly in the car. It's a much better experience to me. I find it interesting that with Audible and Libby and can switch back and forth between the built-in apps and my phone (on Bluetooth) and most of the times they are synched almost down to the word. By the way, SuperCruise is amazing on mapped roads, including secondary four lanes and two lane roads. It drives me about half of my back roads route to work, and always on the highways. I may be getting a little too comfortable with it.
