Cruise control turning off by itself for no reason
Like the title says, my cruise control works fine most of the time but once in a while it will turn off for no reason.
My feet and hands are nowhere near the pedals or stalks when this happens. It works correctly for many/most drives, but when it does turn itself off, it will often turn itself off 2-3 times in relatively quick succession (within the span of 5 to 10 minutes). This happens during maybe one drive per week. The "SET" light turns off on the dashboard when CC turns off, so that's working right. The problem is more annoying than anything. (It's a little disconcerting to be tooling along at 70 MPH on a highway doing literally nothing and have the engine cut out abruptly.) I'd rather not pay anybody to diagnose it at this point. Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks in advance! |

I know there are a few circumstances where it won't even activate, triggered by some other ECM event or check engine light, but that probably isn't what you are talking about.
So yeah: have noticed my CC deactivating under unknown circumstances also. No clue whatsoever. Sent from my XQ-CQ62 using Tapatalk |

Things that will make cruse control turn off:
Brakes Clutch Neutral Traction Engine code Probably more Start by checking those to see if you figure out what one is causing it. My guess is a flakey switch. |

When you engage cruise, try jiggling the clutch or brake in a side to side to see if one of the switches is more sensitive.

You can also check for loose connections or frayed wiring in the cruise control system. Vibrations or bumps while driving could cause slight electrical interruptions, leading to the cruise control turning off unexpectedly. Also, the cruise control module can be experiencing some malfunctions and can be affecting the system. Since the problem happens every now and then, it is difficult to diagnose the issue without certain equipment, but you can start by checking parts for any damage or wear.
