Movie SLC Punk.
Punk rockers in the early/mid 80's in SLC(Salt Lake City) Dude punched a mirror one night and cut his hand. Then this happened and why he got the name. My friend is the same way with blood both his own and other peoples. So bad it took nearly half an hour to convince him to get a local anesthetic to remove the pellet under his scalp that my little brother shot him with. Thankfully there was no traffic at 2am cause went just over 100 in just under a 1/2/ mile. That included a slight slow down to cross a main intersection and make sure there was no oncoming before I slammed the gas again. At least I didn't run a red. On Saturday I learned they can slice a sole fillet thinner than fast food restaurant bacon. And you can read a menu through that stuff.
The wife and I stopped at a Halibut House restaurant, (Ontario based food chain that used to be really good) on our way back from me NOT getting my Caterham Super Seven. (Long story that started on Bring a Trailer. The auction ended Nov. 4 but the agony lives on… Maybe I’ll retell it sometime.) Anyway, fish & chip prices have skyrocketed in recent years. So, we opted to just get the Lunch Special, sole with chips and coleslaw. We really like their light, crispy tempura style battered fish. The French fries are proper sized and have a nice dark colour. They also serve malt vinegar. The coleslaw used to be served in a small cup in its tangy brine. The fries where as expected, great! The coleslaw was on the side of the plate, no brine. You could barely taste the tangy flavour. The batter was light and crispy but you had to really search for that oh sooo thinly sliced fish meat. That was $9.95 a plate and $2.00 for a can of cola. |

TIL you can apparently still get fish and chips for under $10 somewhere, and that's even in Canada bucks.

On Nov. 4th I relearned that a$$hats come in all types, sizes and walks of life. I was bidding on a 1992 Caterham Super Sever that I really, REALLY wanted. It was mine right up until the last 30 seconds and then a new bidder with Deep Pockets bumped me. I returned the favour and he did it again.
Now there was an incident on this same auction site a number of weeks ago where two guys went at it hammer and tongs until the one guy said uncle. The car sold for stupid money. The guy who backed off made the mistake of posting that he just realized that by the time he got the car into Canada it would have cost him over $75,000 Canadian. Well the winner figured he’d been scammed and the whole thing turned into a nightmare for the seller. That car was resold and didn’t bring as much as I thought it should have. So back to my story… I wasn’t going to get into a pissing contest like that so I said he could have it. I figured the guy wanted it as much as I did and had more money so I’d be the bigger man and not run him up. WELL! Guess what showed up for sale on all the usual sites, AutoTrader.ca, Kijiji.ca and Facebook/Market Place. Yep, THAT same 1992 Super Seven. At present he’s got about $40,350 Canadian into it and he’s selling it at the bargain price of $54,995 CAD. I phoned the number and spoke to the new owner. Right away he starts lying. I asked how long he’d had the car and he replied, “A year”. I asked how does it drive, what’s the handling like, are there any known issues? His reply; “It’s a seven! It handles like a race car. Fires right up and runs great.” I asked some more questions and he says it’s all there in the ad. ”I don’t know what more I can tell you”. You’ve got to come see it for yourself. “It’s a concours winning car”. So I said sure how about tomorrow… Bottom line is; he bought it to make money! However, he doesn’t care if it sells, he doesn’t need the money! He’s so big, he can’t even get into it and knew this before he placed his first bid. But it seems he'll not sell it to me. he’d rather keep it just out of spite! What an A$$hat! |

TIL that after taking a trip to vegas this weekend, I could have saved a ton of money cus I still have a $250 flight credit and $500 airbnb credit... from covid lol. I had booked a trip to miami in march of 2020 when everything got cancelled and thought American Airlines and Airbnb had taken my money.

TIL the US Navy, post revolutionary war, was formed to combat Barbary pirates from raiding US merchant ships.

What was a working person's (PC speak for man) food is now out of reach for the average bod (UK prices circ £12 + for a Cod or Haddock, a bit cheaper if you go for white fish..).
