False. It's that way because it knows you gotta have a good frame to support that rack.

I find the app very useful for Latin languages, not so much for Japanese.

The app I use is free, I don't know which app you're referring to.
Was about to say the same thing.

TIL that if someone pushes the trunk key fob button on a 2013 FRS, then just puts it back on the key rack THEN opens the other car's trunk with the correct key fob, and doesn't tell anyone, that the trunk on the FRS will pop just enough to allow the trunk light to go on, but not be visible from the outside.

Then a 10 year old battery will run all the way down and pa-pa won't find out till he goes to go somewhere.

So, the word to the wise is, IF you have two key fobs that look alike on the same key rack AND you have teenage granddaughters that load up the trunk with their stuff in the OTHER car, check to make sure the trunk is CLOSED on YOUR car.

Did you have the teenage grandaughter assist with the battery replacement? Could be a good life lesson in the results of one's actions.

Go fast, take chances.

I learned my life lesson a few months into ownership. Disconnected the stupid trunk light.

Welp, good thought. I remember driving my daughter to the junk yard to pick up front end pieces for the car she wrecked and let her figure out how they went on, then tossed her a spray can of primer to finish the job.

However, with the granddaughter, I would be embarrassed to cart her up to the auto shop to show her how to ask them to install a new battery -

Oh, lemmie me alone - I'm old and lazy.

Not old and lazy, seems like utilizing available free resources to me. Not having them do it is like giving them extra profit.

That's part of the features that make it seem Toyota skipped on the car's final testing. That and:
-the windows that stop getting power when you open the door (and not 30'' later, to allow them to finish closing)
-the power-folding mirrors that require you to have the ignition on (and stop mid-travel if you power the car off)
-the lack of an auto-close feature as you drive off
-the absence of a grab handle to close the trunk
-etc.

I did the trunk thing twice. I'm on battery #2 with a little less than 30k miles. It's really weird that you can pop the trunk, and not see the light, even in the darkest garages.
