It did. It was unofficial, I have an in there so I knew ahead of the job being posted. I have to apply online still.
It's a delivery job but the base pay is more than my current base salary. Once I get into a route it will pay as much if not more then what I make even with my profit sharing bonuses but with basically no take home stress. It's stupid, but it's where I am at.

pivoting to an entirely different job is weird, but it seems to be more of the new normal.

I guess I mean to say I don’t have to worry about answering a service call at 5am on a Sunday because my customer doesn’t know what a time zone is. I haven’t had a ringer on my cell phone in forever because I get emails and phone calls at all hours. Or having to groggily answer an urgent email from an overseas vender at 4am. Or having 3 meals at work and then sleeping on the office floor for 4 hours before getting back to it. It’s crazy to me that a simple job like this pays as much or more then mine. It’s no more physical then doing the work I do now and a fraction of the mental stress. I physically feel like the last couple years under my current GM has aged me more then normal and I have had massive concerns over the future of my current company with the approach the GM takes. My retirement plan right now is in company stock and I flip some of my HSA into 401K every year. A lot of key people are retiring in the next 4-6 years with nobody behind them to take their place. It’s turning into a total shit show and without massive course correction soon, I think it is going to come to a head. Every survival instinct I have is telling me to get out while there is still a piece of the pie which would take 10 years for full payout under our ESOP plan for someone who quits. I don’t believe this opportunity is a lock, but I have been actively looking for other options for a while. If it falls through hopefully it motivates me a bit more.

It seems there are almost as many different brake pads as there are opinions on brake pads ...

Just like tires. I can’t figure out how some people have so little issue with Carbotech/Gloc. I could never get them to work for me.

I don't know your specific situation but consulting or some kind of freelancing might be worth looking into. Good luck. |

I've actually been looking into 3d scanning and rapid prototyping for a while. I was trying to learn some 3d modeling software a while back but I just don't have the time right now, and I had already been prototyping parts for my current job with my crappy little 3d printer. The market is pretty saturated with companies like Xometry, but they charge a ton of money. We had a part done by them, twice because my GM is an idiot, $1800 for each sample that probably had 30 bucks worth of material and around a 20 hour print time. There are a lot of manufacturing companies in my area, I am not sure you could make a living out of it, but you could certainly make a pretty decent supplemental income by undercutting the big guys, and there is enough margin in it to do it by a lot as long as you manage your workload well and don't over promise on lead times.

My Buick must have a nice ass, because everyone definitely wants to hit it. Got rear ended. Again.
