Finally finished the power brake install on my friends 63' Mercury. Nothing fit, even pieces that were supposed to be bolt on didn't fit. Had to cut the existing strut tower bracing out as it wouldn't clear the new master cylinder and brake booster, which I knew about ahead of time. Added new strut tower that was on the export version of the Falcon that clears. Booster didn't fit in the master cylinder hole, was about 1/16th too large, steering column brace straddled the hole for the master cylinder that also needed clearanced. Push rod from booster to pedal didn't fit right. Built new brake lines and had to address many other fit issues. What I estimated to be 4-6 hour install ended up being around 16 hours. To top it off, doesn't work that great, really needs a dedicated vacuum pump.

Visiting with my grandfather for his 94th birthday this week. Stories include, his sister buying him a rifle for Christmas when he was 14 much to his mother's chagrin, and the time he outran the cops in his brother-in-law's 1938(?) Buick Century. Still have the rifle, not so much the car.

Glad you're getting some of those stories.

Unfortunately I never really got any from one grandfather, and the other he kinda just never had stories, or he didn't want to share the ones from the Holocaust/WWII by the time I was old enough, which I understood but still would've liked to.
