Any PC Gamers Around?

Mrs Mafia got me F1 2023 for our anniversary. I would've never bought it out of the gate because I usually wait until the season is over but hey, is the thought that counts, really, I'm happy she thought of my passion for F1.



Anywho.



Game is...alright. Im struggling quite a bit with the throttle, either Im too early, or too late especially on the F1 races. Graphics were tricky to figure out, the color palette is too bight and I was barely pushing 50FPS.

The game was made, it feels, to be played with DLSS/FSR on set on quality with max grain setting. Playing on native settings without any DLSS makes the game slow and blurry. Can't say I'm surprised about playing an EA tittle that is not optimized.



On the other hand, Im glad Braking Point is back. Cheesy story but its something.

Not sure if this has been a thing on other F1 games, but there a "Tire Dampening" setting when playing with a wheel. I found this to be extremely helpful as the feedback from the tires has helped me judge when to get on the throttle.



Can't say that after playing GT7 I've gotten a lot better at F1 games. Throttling is a complete different game and the car feels like is going to give out at any turn. At least compared to a Super Formula Car from GT7 where there's a lot more grip and stability.

Picked up Dead Space 3 for $5 on the steam sale. Figured I might as well add it to the list since I have the DS Remake and DS2.

Also got around to playing Horizon Zero Dawn after having it sit in my inventory for a year and wow, this game is fun! It's different than the usual tactical FPS or racing game, but it's a good change of pace. The story is still out there since I've only played like an hour but it's entertaining nonetheless!

picked up far cry 6, stanley parable ultra deluxe, and superliminal

stanley parable is maybe a little interesting, got stuck in superliminal 10 minutes in.

been grinding through the beginnings of FC6. same as previous versions, though you can't shoot the loudspeakers to turn them off like before...

Just started this myself. I wasted about 20 minutes trying to figure that out, until I realized you can't.

that's only one of the most annoying things. 2nd on the list is all the flags/speakers up at area's that appear to be bases/checkpoints, but are really just random locations. i spent probably 30 minutes at 2 different locations hunting for the last npc soldier/box/alarm/trigger that would trigger the cutscene to change to 'liberated'...

i'm also playing on 'easiest' mode, but this version seems to auto-populate soldiers at way faster intervals than ever before. 3+4 did it, but not to this extent. in the 6 hours i've played, there's been 20-30 minute times where i just stay in the same 100ft radius eliminating enemies that keep popping up in the area.

i also don't care for the new weapon wheel that demands i have a small-caliber sidearm with limited attachments. at least, all the visible/locked weapons for it are underwhelming so far at level 4. all the past farcry's i end up with a heavier duty loadout(sniper, machine gun, assault, flame thrower), and am able to skip over single-handed pistols.

though some of the created weapons are interesting. the nail gun is nice, but it takes over one of my main weapon slots.

I usually end up with a long distance/silence build (sniper, bow, pistol, flame thrower). Only have the flame thrower because some missions usually call for it. I tend towards mechanization (tanks, helicopters) whereever possible.

And speaking of tanks, I'm not caring for the first person tank view even though I know it's more "realistic and consistent with the game's first person view throughout the game.

There's a room where you drop down, so you can't go back, it has 2 buttons that need to be pressed, one to get out of the current room, and one to proceed through the next room. But no objects to place on the buttons.

I restarted, which I thought would kick me back only 1-2 rooms, but sent me entirely back to the beginning. So just gave up at that point, as farcry had finished downloading. Maybe I'll retry once the newness of farcry had worn off
