YIKES! Did you have to have a commercial fishing license?

I don't have a good pic this time but I made a bolognese again this weekend after not making my own for a few months.

Jarred tomato sauces aren't bad at all if you get the good, more expensive brands. But none of them are as good as a truly homemade sauce. It's amazing.

This has to be the best example of something that is so simple to get premade but is worth actually making by hand.

Doesn't look like much but satisfied with my lunch today. Leftover beef and chicken tacos topped with avocado(obviously) mixed with roasted poblano peppers, garlic, shallot(mistake) with a healthy amount of Tapatio. Was mostly happy with how it turned out but raw shallot is too strong. Regular onion would have been a lot better.

I am disappointed every time I take a pic of my food to share here. I suck at it.

I feel that sometimes I do in fact need to provide evidence that I am an adult

I also tried to "warm" two tortilla's with the blast furnace hence I only had 4 tacos to eat for lunch.

Poblano peppers are underrated.

Your latter statement does not help your former.

I love when I go into a poke shop.

"What base you want?"
" Nothing, you'll need the room. "

"How many scoops of protein? "
"4 scoops tuna, 6 scoops hamachi."

" But it only comes with 3 scoops, each additional scoop is extra.. "
"Do what you gotta do..."

"Mix ins?"
" Yes, all of them. "

"Sauces?"
" Yes, all of them. "

"Toppings??"

You get the picture. I've been eating on this one for 5 minutes.

Recently bought an Iwatani butane gas burner meant for indoor asian style grilling or outdoor grilling. Been wanting to get a BBQ for a while but don't have a ton of space for one, and I figured I'd also be able to use this inside instead of my electric range sometimes (with window open for residual butane if any).

I also ordered a cast iron grill plate thing and drip pan that is an "accessory" for it for doing Japanese style yakiniku BBQ.

So last weekend my folks came to visit and I bought some nice meat from the local Japanese market.

This time I got beef tongue, boneless short rib, and then some pre-marinated thin cut ribeye (all prime grade I think?).

Beef tongue:

Shortrib:

Unfortunately no pics of the marinated meat.

Worked out way better than expected. The burner is a 12K BTU burner and gets the pan hot really quick. You're expected to pour some water inside of the drip tray thing and that works really well for catching grease.

The only thing I should've done before first use was properly seasoning the grill. So afterward I scrubbed it down with a metal sponge thing and then worked on seasoning it with some oil in the oven. Should work well the next time.

Sometime I'll also try using my regular cast iron pan, which I think should fit on the burner itself (without the grill thing of course it's just a regular burner).
