I mean, it really depends on how much surge vs how much the system is capable of dealing with; how well are the cables actually shielded, etc. And just like lightning strikes are a crapshoot... I'd imagine the burst a cat is capable of delivering measures pretty high. I can tell you it can HURT. Anyway, glad it seems to have reset and been cleared up.

fyi, next time it happens, computers only need good power, a good cpu, and correct memory type to POST. graphics is entirely unrelated on most boards.

msi has never been great imo
zotac is rebanded asus
evga is rebranded asus


so that leaves asrock? which never even ranked in my top 5...

Mass Effect trilogy was on special. So many cut scenes, so boring. I lasted 4.9 hours before uninstalling.
I'm going to be so upset if Starfield doesn't do it for me.

i'm using MSI right now and i'll keep this build for a few more years, i'll reasess when i'm back in the market but undisclosed backdoors are pretty much the only real thing that gets a brand on my shitlist for this kind of product

It's funny cuz I was pretty sure Asus would never pop up on my radar after that whole thing. But I feel a backdoor is significantly worse in every possible way.

Also didn't MSI have a backdoor issue too?

i tend to just run asus/zotac boards. one glitch isn't going to change that.

I've never played the previous renditions of System Shock so the remake has come as a bit of surprise. While the graphics are definitely only a couple of steps above pixel and the game play is just a little bit clunky I'm surprised at how modern it feels in an old school way (duh!). Deus Ex obviously took some lessons from this game.

The level design is dungeon crawler-ish and disorientating. There is one option at start up to give a mini map which I opted for. I would be seriously lost without it given how similar all the rooms/corridors look.
