Damn this car! I hate it SO much. I was SO against it being a scion... what do they do? They somehow pull it off so I LOVE it... I was all set to pick up a 2012 Mustang v6 for my next DD/Twisty back roads car... And now I might be waiting for this... again.

Bro. Its a concept. And your argument of aero dynamics being useless is completely invalid. Look at the prius's coefficient of drag . . . must have been by accident right?

Haters gonna hate. Lol.

And the resources are there, its Toyoda's pet project . . . Toyota is ballin right now.
So..Toyota spent resources to spec this particular concept in a wind tunnel in order to validate various aero devices but failed to include the impact windshield wipers would have, which are a required to be road worthy??

Really??

And does anyone notice: the LED front lamp!! I wonder if that feature will make it to the production..

And yes, that Scion VP Jack Hollis admits that he watches the forum and discussion about FT-86:

...
Every time I see this car…I just can’t help but smile.

You know… I’ve been having a lot of fun watching the forums and reading the comments about this car.

I’m truly impressed by the amount of passion that the enthusiasts already have for it and the volume of buzz that it’s generating. It proves that they are absolutely READY for a car just like THIS!

Favorite concept iteration so far. It's a budget exotic, it's excellent. Just keep the production version within, say 90% faithful to this and it'll be a winner in my book.

@Philip - This is still a concept, not the final production ver, of course it won't have wipers.

Lol maybe that's why the "Scion" on the back is there... a shot at those who want to debadge... instead of drive this sexy thing around and show the world that it is a Scion... makes sense from a marketing standpoint actually.

Price point doesn't expressly dictate how much R&D they dedicate into it, that's too simplistic of an argument. There's also volume of sales, profit margin per car, integration of R&D technology across other models and platforms... in short, you can't say how much or little R&D is going into this car.

You know, I actually like this concept less. The front is too "snouty" for a lack of better word. Fortunately, there's no way that pointy front would make it to production, given how pedestrian-unfriendly it is. I don't mind the car being Scion, but I do mind that giant SCION scrawled on the back. Taillights aren't as clean as the original or as exciting as the second concept.

I like how they killed the side vent, but those front wheel arches seem like overkill.

That's true but I thought this was supposed to be as close as production as it gets. I'll hang around. Might just have to get the car for straight performance and not looks.

nor 20" wheels, 18" rotors, diffusers, vents, tiny mirrors, closed trunks, etc.. in the production version.

so all of this "performance" and "aero" stuff is just for show.

Thanks for making my point.
