There are pro's and cons from both the Mk2 and the Scion FR-S. I think what we need to take here is that they're moving in the right direction.

They got rid of the BMW styled fender vents at least.

I said that this front vent used the same basic design feature as the GT3 RS. Now if you want to argue if it is beneficial or useful you can do that. I'm not sure how long Toyota spent in the windtunnel or on the track when they designed this feature. But when done correctly it is meant to help aero and handling. The key word is when done correctly. The purpose of something like this front vent (function over form) is for the car's handling and aero. We can start a new thread if you want to disagree or argue about the purpose of the vent.
But it has no application to the FR-S, as the huge brakes, tires, diffusers, etc..are useless for a street driven vehicle in this caliber of car. If the subject in question can't use the function because the form doesn't allow, then it's just stylistic nonesense, no matter what the function is on a seperate, more appropriate form. I probably spent more time on the can this morning than Toyota did in a wind tunnel on this particular concept.

On this concept at least...

Press release mentions 5axis wheels. You can be sure Troy massaged the body too.

If Mr. Toyoda is as interested in this car as it sounds, I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota went above and beyond on the production car.

Hopefully Toyota will consider using a liftback for the trunk ala old school CRX/Celica.

Another thing that bothers me in the MKIII is the hump on the front wheel arch . . . I'd love it if they lowered it a bit.

And Philip is a hater, lol. He cant believe that cars have functional air vents haha..

I guess I'm the odd one out this time. What a shame.

Looks like paying off my car early means more money for me and not a new car... :/

They aren't going to spend a large amount of resources to do testing on a vehicle that will rarely, if ever, attain speeds that would make use of various "aerodynamic" devices. To achieve a price point of $25k, the resources aren't going to be there..and nor should it. This isn't going to be a straightline fast car..probably not even a curvy fast car. It's going to be a light, cheap, easily controlled, fun to drive car. Maybe I'm just getting old and jaded, but sometimes you have to accept reality. The reality is, none of this "stuff" on this car will make an iota of difference in the stock performance. Where are the windshield wipers??

Although the rear light blocks the trunk opening, if they change the roof design a little bit, and with their promise to carry track gears with fold-flat rear seats, we might be lucky to get a lift-back in this design, which is a big win for me.
