I enjoy when managers complain about things aren’t changing… but when presented w changes, they flip out that changes are happening.

WHICH ONE DAMN IT!

I have the opposite issue. They don't change anything but then wonder why nothing changes. We are going on over 18 month without a new dedicated purchasing manager. The way today is going I am going to be here till midnight.

"We trained hard, but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganized. Presumably the plans for our employment were being changed. I was to learn later in life that, perhaps because we are so good at organizing, we tend as a nation to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency and demoralization."
Charlton Ogburn though it is often mistakenly attributed to Petronius.

Yeah, I've posted this before *shrug*

That is my GM. He wants to move the production manager to purchasing, but then we have nobody that can be the PM

We have always "grown" our own employees from base level jobs(usually at the shipping receiving level to learn the system) but they had promoted a couple guys into the shipping/receiving manager who were not ready. They in turn poorly train staff and retain staff that are not good. Now we have very few upcoming employee's that show future promise that can fill these types of positions. I think the last time a management position was filled from the outside was 06-07'.

This reminds me of The Peter Principle. The irony is it was intended to be satire. It's quite old now (first published in 1969) and I have no idea if it has any credence now.

"The Peter principle states that a person who is competent at their job will earn a promotion to a position that requires different skills. If the promoted person lacks the skills required for the new role, they will be incompetent at the new level, and will not be promoted again.[1] If the person is competent in the new role, they will be promoted again and will continue to be promoted until reaching a level at which they are incompetent. Being incompetent, the individual will not qualify for promotion again, and so will remain stuck at this final placement or Peter's plateau. This outcome is inevitable, given enough time and enough positions in the hierarchy to which competent employees may be promoted. The Peter principle is therefore expressed as: "In a hierarchy, every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence." "

Are you sure this work will be in competent hands?
Certainly! We're all incompetent!

I dream of my final level of competency.

I thought the used car market was to incur a decline in values? I want a different car.

need to see new car valuations decline first.

depends on what you're looking for. 'things that run' have fallen into $2k territory, with a few $1k vehicles now as well. so prices are somewhat falling back to reality.

Before chip shortages and supply issues, I feel like used Supras were low 40s? I haven’t been enjoying the looks of my car for a while.

I also haven’t been enjoying a non versatile vehicle to go snowboarding, take my bassets to the river, or loading my bike to go to the skatepark.

Well, I'm realizing my wife is only happy when I am doing things I hate. Have I had time to go forward in garage organization and car maintenance? If course not. I'm fixing and prepping walls for painting, and doing home electrical. Next I get to fall a dead tree in my backyard. Yay!

And get this. I've been suffering from the strangest, most itchy rash lately. Dermatologist says it is ezcema, and have to lay off my hot tub. So one doc says hit tub for circulation, other says no hot tub for skin. Darn.

I've started scrolling for a 3rd something. I like the truck, I like the car, the best way to keep them nice is to drive them less..

Trying to find something that fits in the venn diagram of cheap/different/reliable/parts-available.

A Volvo 240 manual wagon popped up locally for $1.5k, but it was a snowbelt car, and most of the underbody was 2 weeks from nonexistence.
