Dammit! I thought you got that all cleared out! I'm sorry, man.

Heh. I think mine had the same train of thought. He spent a few questions asking me if I have any history of asthma. I told him the truth, that back in elementary school at one point I did the puffing test thing for it because i would get short of breath at times. But other than that I've never had an asthma problem.

Covering the bases. Did it start with Covid?

No, I have been tested 3 times now in the last month.

@ nohavemsg Childhood asthma can be really tricky. My oldest was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma at about 5. At 6 we took to him an allergy specialist. They put him on a treadmill with one of those headgear contraptions to measure his respiratory capacity. After 30 minutes they stopped the test because he never got winded. During the test, as word spread, a parade of doctors came by to watch. Today, at 39, you can tire him out, but I still don’t think you can run him out of breath.

So, exercise induced asthma was out, but allergies were definitely in. Have you been tested for those?

I did allergy tests back in high school, maybe 12ish years ago.

The worst allergens for me were dustmites and dog hair.

Now, you may say "spike, you got a dog recently didn't you?"

But I got Haru back in June 2021, and this cough I have definitely had off and on since roughly Feb 2020 (I got sick initially the very end of Dec 2019 and that sickness lasted until mid Feb 2020 ish).

So if anything it's dustmites or something, but it also happens outside fairly frequently and even when I'm away from home.

Might not hurt to do another round of tests. Our reactions to potential allergens can change as we age.

Very interesting. I have not been tested for that. I may need to see if my new PCP will set me up for an allergen test. I was going like 7-8 years in a row where I would end up with pneumonia or an upper respiratory issue this time of the year. I didn't get it the last couple years. They did an allergen test for my brother when he was a kid since he has so many respiratory issues. He has pretty severe asthma. I used to work on in the hay field all day and no problem when I was a teenager. My allergies have been getting a lot worse as I get older.

For a few years in high school I would get bronchitis this time of year. Which is kind of what this reminds me of except that it's lasting throughout the year.

Yea, I wasn't allergic to NSAIDs (aspirin and its derivatives) until my mid 40s.

I finally got over a cold I've had for about a month. I caught it from Mrs. Ultra, who caught it from our youngest grandson. It lasted about a month for her, and the little dude coughed up loogies for a couple months. Doc tested him for RSV and said let it ride.

Neither of us were hit in the chest. Just a nasty viral sinus infection.
