$1,000 contingency from Toyota
An SCCA Solo Nats victory in the FR-S is worth $1,000. Pretty tidy, considering that a lot of these programs have shrunk or disappeared over the last few years.
No payouts beyond first place. Details here: http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...ta-Solo-NC.pdf |

This is awesome and great to see more of this! I just managed to win myself $250 bucks by coming 2nd overall in C Stock under the very same contigency program up here in Canada. I just got to the word today that a check (cheque for us English folk) is on the way with my name on it.
I'm glad to see more of this though. What other car company does this other then Scion? bneale

Hmm as much as $1k would be nice I don't see anyone in an FR-S winning CS this year. I wonder if they would pay out for RTR?

Getting an FR-S to place first in any of the applicable categories this year will be a challenge no doubt.

Also says you "must compete with a Toyota/Scion engine and body to be eligible." - so will they pay out for a subaru-engined FR-S at all? Does my BRZ qualify with it's Toyota-styled body and Toyota FI engine? ![]() ![]() Seriously, the really good thing about this is that it may bring the 'top notch' drivers to the car, which should provide great competition and help ensure the car is classed appropriately in each category. |

You may want to get clarification from the Toyota Rep on that one.... typically "all classes" still excludes provisional classes. The only RT contingency I am aware of is the Evolution Driving School contingency, which is only for RT. |

I can tell you that tires and the driver are the only things holding you back. There is a good chance an FR-S will win C stock this year if it has racing slicks. In fact, i'd go out on a limb right now and say it will win if the driver is up to it. My FR-S on Dunlop Star Specs was clocking in STS Miata times last weekend at the VCMC event I went too. My FR-S is completely stock and not even prepped to the max of C Stock. Camber bolts (stock ones of course), Racing Slicks, Catback Exhaust (for weight reasons) and you have ONE BEAST of a machine. STS Miata's were running 44.3 - 44.9 range last weekend. My FR-S on Street tires ran a 44.980 with Richard driving it and then a 45.1 with Glen at the Wheel. Glen only had 1 run and still managed to almost match Richards best time. I'm telling you guys right now, the FR-S can be VERY competitive in C stock if you buy the right tires. Stock ones are useless. You guys should really pay attention to the "Team VCMC Scion Tuner Challange" thread Richard has going on in the Autocross section. He's the one to watch with this car at Autocross. bneale

Yeah as much as I'd like for a BRZ or FR-S to do well at the top of CS, I just don't think it's going to happen with the current cars at the top of CS, with the current drivers at the top of CS. The guys at the top of CS are incredibly good and the top few were way ahead of everyone else at nationals the last couple years.
Jadrice Toussaint who won BS last year in a S2000 CR drove a BRZ at one of his local events and ended up about 1.6s behind his S2000, although I believe he could have been faster with better prep in the BRZ, but probably not enough to catch his S2000. His BS S2000 would have placed 4th at nationals in CS last year... |

Not to mention the top 3 CS drivers at nationals last year were all in the top 40 index of 1106 competitors, with the winner in 15th. Its not just a question of car versus car, its a tough class with lots of driving talent. Trophying alone will be a major victory.
