In the 90s I worked for WR Grace & Company. One of their divisions was Cryovac. Cryovac makes vacuum seal products like the bags that turkeys go into, etc.

For some reason unknown, the spell checker in MS-Office and Outlook at the time would always correct Cryovac to scrotum unless you specifically added the division name to the word list. It couldn't be done at an admin level at that time.

It made for some interesting emails, presentations and memorandum.

Of course, when you think about it, the products they made, and the autocorrect does make sense. It's all about the packaging.

Speaking of phones being secure (NOT), I remember the "party lines". At one time we had up to 10 people on one line. I remember one time my father yelling at the women on our party line to "get off the line, he had parts for a broken down combine, to order". -

I remember those well - and I grew up in Houston (before it had a 7 figure population). I'm glad I lived long enough to remember them now.

SHOW of Hands. Who remembers party lines?

Actually remembers - not heard about them from your grandma.

Now, please remind me again. Who are you?

I remember them, my Grandparents had one on their farm. In fact, when my Grandmother passed away in 1998, she and two neighbors still hadn't converted off of it.

Oh this is fun.

My earliest memory is when I was 2, I toured the foundation (walk-in basement) of the new house my parents were building. I remember my grandfather walking me around, and then taking a ride in bulldozer with the contractor (my mom grew up next door to him).

Second earliest was when I got yelled at by a park ranger for playing in a tree on the Vanderbilt mansion lawn.

So... I'm gonna feel really stupid asking for help here, but I figured why not try.
Got a beater ford focus till the move is over. Today I went to start the car and it wouldn't crank. Tried to jump start it, lights turned on but it wouldn't turnover, just clicking sounds. The battery was tested and it's fine.
Took a break cuz I figured it was the starter. Later, I tried again and nothing worked other than the interior lights flickering on before dimming out. The headlights don't turn on, or barely do. I'm not sure if it's the alternator, starter, fuse, or what. Any help would be appreciate cuz I feel like a total dumbass right about now.

Is it like 10 years old? Check the main ground and/or positive cable for any lumps or breaks, or just replace them. I had this exact problem on my 03 outback about 2 weeks after I bought it in 2014-ish... Took me like 2 more weeks to figure it out, and then it was only because I was trying to remove the starter.

It's all good.

Barely works = not fuse

You have either a shit battery,
or a shit connection.

If you hook up a jumper and the lights don't get brighter, It's a bad connection on the other end of the wires.

If any of the connections gets hot when you try to crank it, stop and fix.

Make sure the battery is actually load tested.

Yeah as soon as I hooked up a jumper, everything lit up just fine. But it still didn't turn over, just clicked.

I've seen cars click solenoids when a dead battery is jumped. Most of the time, cleaning connections, or more often twisting the jumper cable clamps - so the jaws dig into the cable clamps and make a better connection - does the trick.

First thing, though, clean the clamps and terminals/posts down to shiny bare metal.
