Amazon Prime Games (Free) for January includes Evil Within 2 and Lawn Mower Simulator, EW2 is a fantastic game and I highly recommend it.

If anyone is unfamiliar withe the Epic Games store, they giveaway a free game every thursday and every now and then they'll have some weekly giveaways (like during Christmas, 15 straight days of free game giveaway).

The majority is mostly indie or lesser titles but they do give out some bigger name stuff and some AAA quality stuff every now and then as well (usually during the big giveaway periods like christmas)

I have over 250 games just from the giveaways lol. The only game i ever purchased was Kingdom Hearts 3 lol. And i do have a few notable titles that i likely wont play but they would have been worth a purchase at some point in time, like current Tomb Raider, Wolfenstein new order, Rage 2, Borderlands 3, Death Stranding, Civilization 6, GTA5 (I think i bought this one cheap on Steam about a month before Epic decided to drop GTA5 as a free giveaway title lol).

Their launcher still sucks but...free games are free games!

Correct, if sticks have different timings/frequencies, this could be the case. But if using, say, 4X8 of the same, there shouldn't be any deterrence to performance or very minimal. In my case, Ryzen CPUs can benefit from 4 slots.

It's more complex than that, single vs dual rank also plays a role and can be miserable to figure out what you've got. That said, if you need more memory, having it is faster than not.
And most of us can't tell outside of benchmark bragging rounds.

Fun fact, current Intel DDR5 memory implementation actually gets slower the more sticks you add.

FTFY.

As for building a Comp (Since ALL consumer computers are PC's)
Watch this for what NOT to do.

JayzTwoCents is a good choice as said earlier for what to actually do.
Also RTFM The MB manual will answer almost all your questions when you get into it.

ok, i watched/skipped through the video. what's so terrible about the entire thing?

the only wrong thing i saw him do was insist on adding more thermal paste than what's included with the cooler...

Remember this is a $2,000 computer.
1st and foremost. Didn't bench test everything to check for thing that may be DOA.
Thermal Paste applicator that never get used by him.
Highly doubt an Allen wrench is needed and if something does need one it usually comes with the thing.
Zipties = tweezers???? (not even 40 sec into the video)
Who TF uses a multi tool and not a regular screwdriver?
Live Strong Bracelet = "Anti-Static Bracelet." (only 48sec into the the video so far...)
Built in Wi-Fi shouldn't be the deciding factor in your motherboard purchase, you should look for compatibility with your preferred components above all.
(I know he said "For me" but still.)
Its an IO shield, not a "brace"
Resting MB on the stand-offs while fidgeting with the IO shield.
2666MHz RAM is NOT Fast. (Stock non XMP speed when this video was made)
RAM facing the wrong way then fixed off camera.
RAM 2 sticks 4 slots. Installed in single channel not dual.
M.2 he got comes with a spacer that he didn't use.
"What lane you put your graphics card in doesn't really matter." I've only seen it go in the top slot in the 10's of comps I've built/repaired.
Rubber pads on case are to stop "Short Circuiting".
Installs PSU fan facing inside the case instead of toward the provided side vent.
No fans on the Cooler. THAT is why the screws are so long.
"Every power supply is going to come with a big bag of "Velcro cables".
(That's not Velco... And they only come with a bag of cables if it's either semi or full modular.)
Ignore everything dealing with power. Fans, Lights, Pwr/Reset switches, ect.)
Puts the CPU is AFTER doing the power. I'd of done it while bench testing it, or if that is skipped. Before even putting it in the case.
Throws away CPU plastic cover. Not leaving it on and throwing it away later. Literally removes it right away and tosses it. (This is an INTEL One BTW)
"CPU Holder" (Not CPU Socket....)
Hyped the shit outa an average CPU in 2018 when this video was made.
The cooler already has paste on it. BUT
"There is already paste on the cooler but it's usually not enough. So it's good PC building practice to add a little extra."

Adds a fk ton of thermal paste to the CPU. (The bigger the glob the better the job.)
What's cable management mean???
Benchmarks with things like League of Legends...

Wish I just wrote that down now.

that whole video is so cringy. watching it again, the first part where he says he "picked an a-suu-zz motherboard"

the bracelet thing is somehow the funniest part that i missed. it's wireless!

i watched it again, i'm amazed that the power supply actually fit in that orientation and the whole pc didn't thermally shut down after about 20 minutes playing anything...

i've built somewhere near 5-10 pc's for myself, and dozens for a company in the before-times. he basically did everything the hardest way possible, so i skipped over most of everything he was trying to teach technique without obviously understanding it himself. i mean, installing the cpu, cooler, and memory after putting it in the case is just plain harder for no reason...

i'm really surprised the psu fit in that orientation, all the one's i've ever used, the screws never lined up any other way.

but i never bench-tested any parts of pc builds until they were fully assembled either. how do you bench-test a cpu, or memory? easier to just bolt/rough-wire everything up, make sure it POST's, and then tidy up the wiring.

I didn't watch the video. Came late to the game and figured from the descriptions here it was a shit show. Don't need to see that.

Same here. I've built dozens of PCs over the years and I always fully assemble first, then hit the big red switch (or whatever color it is). I suppose you could put all the components together, plug it to the PSU outside the box and test but really it's no more difficult to troubleshoot in the case for me on the rare occasion it doesn't fire up the first time.

Assuming for someone who doesn't do this for a living.
Place everything on something that wont conduct electricity. MB box works.
Does it all work/boot like normal. Assemble
If not time to trouble shoot.

The number of times something has gotten to me DOA is VERY surprising.
Dead RAM, CPU, MB, Card.
No dead HDD's or SSD's yet thankfully.

Yup. Only takes a little more time to set stuff up outside the case if everything works... Far easier when troubleshooting is required. Really just need POST and bios check though with m2 hiding on the motherboard I might change my tune if I get a failure there. Also let's me see where cables want to go and plan a bit more easily.
