It does not include the airbag unit. So its like $800 for the airbag unit and $700 for the steering wheel...Would look pimp though...

If you want to try, you can but know that a brand new Scion airbag retails for about $650. Take a look at the picture, that pink part is the actual bag which is nicely packed in there and right behind the vinyl.

While I do wish there was/is a more cost effective way to do the change, it really seems as though this is the only way to SAFELY do it. Please let us know if you discover another way man.

Your right, there is no way this is going to get any cheaper. The bomb is not the most expensive part, the airbag is...

I still say it is worth it, to get the 86 look. I am definitely going to do it, if I get a FR-S...

Nice write-up on the bomb swap. Thanks. This is also on my list of mods once I get mine.

hey trojan_sc, did you get the rear Red brake light working? you know, the one between the reverse lights? i was wondering if you could also show how you got there if you've done it already, it's gonna annoy me to no end if i can't get that light working.

There is already a write up on that. Technically that red part is supposed to be a fog light, not a brake light. Just FYI.

I haven't done it, but when I get the front fog lights, I will make the rear fog work as a fog light though.

Do You

Thank you very much for this write up! I for one can not stand looking at the Scion logo on my steering wheel! I also agree that this car should have never been a Scion to begin with. I will be doing this mod.

I am unsure why everyone feels they needs to express their opinions on your finances? If something is worh the $$$ is subjective! I for one, would not change the rims on this car. But someone will spend thousands on rims that make the car run slower, and the same people giving you a hard time will be drooling and taking out loans for their own rims.

To each is their own! The steering wheel looks great!!!! Update us on how the headlight swap goes as well! I want to do that swap as well!
