Today I am realising that my wish to procure fancy wheels (Apex VR..) is fast becoming a dream.. Crazy prices in the UK, just can't justify circa £5k on a car that's coming up to it's 9th birthday..

There must be a sweet spot in a car's life when such things make more sense..

Anyway, as a consolation prize, I will book it in for a chassis massage, change the bushes for a full set of poly thingys..

Around here the older and more beat up a car is the more expensive the wheels on it are! Twenty year old base Civic 4 door with about $3,000 wheels on it usually sits in the work parking lot.
Mind you the wheels are probably stolen so no real investments was made.

They were easier to steal when they were hub caps. Less a financial decision and more of a "oh those are cool" spur of the moment decision too.

My buddies and I in high school basically treated them like trading cards.

Ya I really shouldn't talk. The hubcaps on my 58 Nomad were spoked Moons and easily cost more than I paid for the car when I bought it.

I STILL have the damaged SS cap form my 64 Impala and it was the first legal car I ever owned. You want to trade?

OK, so, just how many illegal (stolen?) cars did you own?

Well the couple my dad gave me he said he paid for but who knows. I meant ones with actual safety checks, plates for that car and insurance. There were a bunch that were missing at least one and sometimes all three of those things.
As you are aware it was much easier to get away with such things before the cops carried computers around in the cars with them!

TIL that Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda/Red Witch from the Marvel Universe) is the younger sister (by 3 years) of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (Full House baby twins turned Fashion Moguls).

It is pretty obvious if you look at their (adult) photos, but for some reason I never put it together. Maybe it's because Elizabeth can actually act.

Safety checks - insurance? Never heard of things like that, back in the day, on the farm. Plates were optional as long as you stayed in the county and off of state highways and carried a bag of chicken feed in the trunk (to declare it a "farm vehicle".
