Having all the shit to build my fence was a new experience. Building it was no big deal but the access to tools etc was the real thing. I’d also like to make furniture. Obviously nicer in the future with more time and funds to devote to premium materials.
I have a full machine shop in the basement of my building. I’m doing a Chinese language program now, but if I weren’t I’d be fully vested in material science courses making shit like shift knobs, center caps, and _____. Dude who runs it is also into Motorsport. I was telling him the first time I took out my car to the track after sc and tune. I was telling him how I lost control first lap and I was getting used to it. So he got all hyped about making some spacers to inhibit airflow and kinda chamfer a less obstructive insert to let me get used to it. I showed him ecutek and blew his mind. |

Not sure if this counts. I got a new hire budget for my new job in September and finally used it for part of the purchase of a new standing desk to replace my decent but not great desk I got at the beginning of COVID.
I got an Uplift V2 C-Frame with a birch wood butcher block top. Spent yesterday assembling it, not too difficult, just time-consuming since I'm not a builder lol. I had to do one step a little differently from the manual so I could line up holes for a few screws on my own. Hopefully not too big a deal. Sturdy so far. Need to work on my cable management too. Might still tinker during the thanksgiving time off. ![]()

Anybody have tips on how I could make that drawer on the desk not make noise? It's not on a rail or anything, it just slides in and out (I also attached the stop bar but that can be removed). It makes a squeak especially the final inch or so at the back. I made sure all four wood screws used to mount it to the desk were flush so I don't think it's from them. Maybe sanding it down further?

Yea, that was going to be my suggestion, or Johnson's Paste Wax.

Wow, I didn't know SC Johnson Paste Wax had been discontinued in Dec. 2021. I have a can of it I've had for probably 25 years that is still good when I need it.
Hmm... maybe that was their problem....

Just use a light skim not a heavy coat. Otherwise when it is cooler in the room it turns to glue instead of lube.
