Analysts project that they'll outnumber white potatoes in the next fifteen years.

Kingsford did.

Kingsford was one of Henry's best dealers. That is why, up to a couple years ago, kingsford charcoal had a model T on the bag.

Not according to that article. It's the other way around.

If only there was a way to check...

" Edward G. Kingsford, a real estate agent in Michigan"

"A University of Oregon chemist, Orin Stafford, had invented a method for making pillow-shaped lumps of fuel from sawdust and mill waste combined with tar and bound together with cornstarch. He called the lumps "charcoal briquettes."

So neither one "invented" them. Ford just found a way to use and market it and Kingsford just ran the operation.

And also interesting
"Thomas Edison designed the briquette factory adjacent to the sawmill"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingsford_(charcoal)

Basically yes. Bought some normal-looking potatoes at a farm stand and they turned out to be purple inside lol. They were fine in the stew, was just surprised lol.

Terra makes these into potato chips. I like the mix with sweet potato, yukon gold and these in them.

Today I learned the Idaho tax board denied my energy tax credit on my 2019 taxes for my 98% efficient HVAC unit. If I bought Windows that were slightly more efficient and saved a few pennies it would be fine, but a HVAC system that uses half the gas and electricity isn't an energy saving home upgrade. Now I owe $966 more tax.

Ouch.

Georgia has a rural hospital tax credit where you can donate up to $5,000 to specific hospitals and it will be an equal state tax credit (the Feds don't allow it).

I have contributed to it for the past several years since it doesn't cost me anything and it benefits one of the hospitals in the system I work for. You have to pay it, and it comes back the next year as a full tax credit, or you could "underpay" your state taxes and not have it withheld from your check.

Technically, since I know what I give and what I owe (Georgia is a straight 6% income tax) I could change my withholding to avoid it coming out of my paycheck but I'm always afraid I'll get caught in some gotcha like you describe and I would end up owing the full amount plus the donation.
