Yesterday I learned that wild Peafowl (Peacocks and Peahens) are becoming a real problem in Ontario. While driving down a back road near our home we had to stop as an ostentation, muster, pride, or party (take your pick) of Peafowl tried to cross the road in front of us. There was one beautiful iridescent Peacock with 6-8 plain looking Peahens.
I've read several articles on-line after getting home that explain how these birds are thriving in the wild. They are fine in rural settings however, they are know to cause much mayhem and damage in built up areas. Do a search, you'll be surprised. I sure was.

I've almost taken out peafowl several times over the years buzzing thru the Santa Cruz mountains back home. Peacocks are pretty, but they are aggressive destructive nasty birds.

But, most importantly, how do they taste properly battered and fried?

Don't know, never hit one.

Found this on line:

Both the peacock and peafowl are said to taste like chicken. Some claim that once brined, the meat will taste like a turkey, while others will compare it to the meat of a guinea fowl.

Just the other day I had to wait while a group of cranes decided they needed to cross the road in front of me. There have been wild turkeys hanging out at street corners in the area, too. What next, emu?

I did hit a turkey once about 25 years ago while on my way home from fishing in the Sierra foothills. It went flying over the truck, and before I could back up and get it, someone going the other way stopped and grabbed it. I was so going to smoke it for dinner.

We have an alpaca farm nearby. They like to hang out at the fence by the road.

TIL about pre and post calibration performance on monitors while reading a review for the LG Ultragear QHD (Costco). Im about to give the calibrated settings a try and see if there are any noticeable differences.

The review was at rtings.com and they're kind enough to give you the best calibration settings as the software and hardware require to do so can be quite costly.

Aghhhh, IT PTSD kicking in...

When I was a lowly tech I was the guy that had to calibrate a marketing department's CRT monitors to Pantone specifications once per quarter. What a pain....

I also have calibrated some rear projection equipment, but never a flat screen type monitor. I have people for that now (radiology read stations)

Ahh, there is this thing called "ICC Profile" that you can apparently download, which I am assuming you load into a program so that your computer can use the same settings the reviewer had post calibration. But I have never seen an option on windows settings to load/save a profile. Any ideas?
