oh come on, a little scotchbrite pad work, and that crank will be like brand new!

of note, they said both motors knocked... which could also mean the the rods are making new oiling passages in the cylinder walls as well...

I was thinking chuck it in a drill and ratchet strap it to the bench and turn it on some emery cloth.

They are basically only good for cores if you are going to go the built engine route even if they only had a spun bearing. I priced out building a forged internals block and you are ahead just buying a built one from IAG, Map, or Outfront. Replacing the crank and the spun bearing would probably cost a grand when a new short block is only 1800 if you could do the work yourself.

Along similar lines it was said that one could miss 2 years of Days Of Our Lives and still know what was going on when one resumed watching.

Not very accurately given the wide time frame that DOOL was aired.
By your criteria my possible age is 0-120 yo.

Today I learned that our Microplate foot file was made in America. Most likely the only thing in our home that was made in America.

Bet if you pulled it apart and checked the parts were made in China it it was actually only assembled in America.

Diversification of the manufacturing and energy production is really hurting the UK now.. Lack of foresight in the 70's, 80', 90's etc now showing..
