I’ll second myself that this motor would be a great swap for also the Miata over the K series just for size, but also the rest. I wonder if we will see this motor in other models in the future.

Bruh, you can have AWD in places that aren't off roading or mixed seasons. Drop that whole rally car nonsense to defend your standpoint.

Ultimately I'd have taken either one....

I could. I just wouldn't need or prefer it for a personal daily to 2wd, nor would I prefer to pay the premium for it at the expense of weight, drivetrain loses, maintenance, complexity and drop in mpg. For me, the benefits of AWD doesn't outweigh those drawbacks, but that wouldn't be the case if we lived in an area with snow or didn't already own a Q5 for family ski trips. That's my position and probably doesn't resinate with everyone, which is why I was asking what was their position. Pretty simple. Why? You don't like talking cars?

That's pretty much me as well. Even though (or maybe because) I live in Georgia I try to have one 4WD/AWD in the family just in case.

I did come up with another reason recently though. When I placed an order for a 2023 Lyriq, the AWD option for $2K also included a 150HP bump up to 500HP.

Where I live there is lots of snow but not too many hills, so I could easily make do with FF daily. I always keep a dedicated set of wheels/tires for winter so I could get away with RWD if I wanted really. Having that no-questions AWD confidence of the GRC is definitely a pro though.

Though I very rarely utilize the AWD in the WRX, it's great never giving a second thought about the weather. Aside from deep snow maybe. I only high centered once when we got 5+ feet after Christmas a few years back. Got out on my own though (don't stop, don't slow down!) I pulled many stuck vehicles out over the years.. good times.

Funny though, regarding driving like an asshole. I basically drive like an old lady 95% of the time. Wife hates how I drive, too slow But for a few years after I got the WRX I definitely struggled to behave when it started snowing. One day I was casually drifting around a corner (no cars nearby) and some guy coming from like 1/4 mile down the road was hanging out his window flipping me off, rage on his face. I figure his whole family must have been killed by a blue hooning Subaru or something, he really didn't like me. Anyhow I don't have much trouble staying behaved these days. Got enough problems, don't need to deal with damaged suspension components from a misjudged scandi flick.

The front end of this thing was like a twin of the NSX to me. Imagine an AWD turbo Nissan NSX haha. Late 80's Japan must have been a heck of a place to be.

I’ve been driving for 52+ years. I have driven FWD, RWD, 4WD and AWD in all types of Canadian weather. Without a doubt the most fun, year round car and the one I thought I would be buried in was my 2006 STi. From the moment I drove off the dealer’s lot, (which by the way was the very first time I had driven the car, or any STi) I was in full WOT mode. I was careful in public but on the back roads I was pedal to the metal. I had a dozen different routes to and from work that all were about 30-35 minutes of pure fun. I didn’t care about MPG’s or weight or mechanical complexities. For me it’s only about the smiles per miles I get from my driving experience. My 2006 STi delivered that in spades, all year around!

Looks like MSRP will be announced on September 14th. And deliveries of the Core have been delayed from October to December (greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat). Probably pushes Circuit back further as well. Dammit.

At this point Im preparing myself to enjoy this car in the Gran Turismo series exclusively. Might need to start selling my bath water.

He has a 'style' for sure. But I still enjoy his videos for the most part

I don't think I've ever watched one of his videos before. I watched this one at 1.75 speed and still had to skip forward a bit.
