This reminds me of a story my dad told me, I was too young to remember. One of our neighbors had a big gopher problem in his front yard. I guess he got really fed up with them one day and ran his garden hose into one of the gopher holes and let it run for a long time to flush them out. A significant amount of his yard collapsed.

We had one of these on the farm I worked at as a teenager. The owner wouldn't let us use it, he just made us find the gopher holes and open them up. It was just out of town, we would get the cops called every now and then.
