Can’t get the transmission off!
I’m trying to replace my tob/ clutch at the moment. I removed all 6 bolts and 2 nuts on the transmission. I have the engine strapped to the tower braces and it’s tilted down towards the transmission. I’ve used pry bars, hammers. I want to try to strap the trans to my other car and use a ratchet strap to pull the trans out but I’m afraid it’ll pull the car off the jackstands. Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with this issue?

A suggestion, find your local Mustang meet, show your car, admire the 'tangs.. and when leaving ensure you pick an exit that has a strategically placed road furniture or tree.. Remember all the drive advice gained at the meet.. Really give your car some Welly and I'm sure transmission and engine will soon be separated..

You removed the driveshaft first, right?
I usually jack the motor up. It should just slide off. If you're having trouble getting it off, then you have no chance of getting it back on! |

FWIW, i had a hard time getting my 2013 separated too. The dowel pins had corroded and (I think) were a big part of hanging things up. Agree though - you need the engine/trans to be at the right angle.
While waiting for the parts guys for the TOB at my dealer, the service manager stopped by and we talked for a bit - he said they often run into one that's stuck and difficult to remove - they drive a wedge in between the engine bell bell housing. I can't recommend that. I just had to do some (well... lots of) prying, and then a good pull/shake. I think - yes it should just slide off, but it's not unusual for them to be more difficult from what I've heard. |

Transmissions always have that one extra bolt that takes someone else to spot.

Rust belt. I posted recently about how it should just come apart if it's all lined up. I should go edit that post because I was WRONG! It's easy in the land of mild winters.
keep a screw loose in the top for safety and just wiggle/pry. After you get it apart, clean up any burrs you created. You won't kill it.

How many times does Bubba have to tell you folks -
Use a cold chisel and hammer, it ain't made outta glass! A couple of taps on all sides should loosen it up. If not, get a BiggerFH! Bubba PS - iffen that don't do it, @blsfrs was right, you missed a bolt - |

Neverseize the dowel pins when you put it together. A bit of heat where the dowel pins are may help. You just want to hit it enough it starts to sweat, then it evaporates. The aluminum case will expand at a greater rate then the steel. If anything, a bit of thermal shock might be enough to break it loose.

Should be 4 bolts, 2 starter bolts and two nuts.
————————————————— Just need to pry on both sides with the tail lifted, so the transmission isn’t leveraged on the input shaft.
