Seems like further proof that you buy the base model and a set of coilovers and LSD installed will make you faster than the Premium version while saving you money.

Wouldn't both of those mods void the warranty?

They absolutely went in the wrong direction with this car. Overweight, extremely nose-heavy, and abysmally SLOW for the power rating. They should have developed a more minimalist light-weight version and kept the NA V6. Oh wellz...

I think they went with a Miata mentality on soft suspension, touring compliance, but more for comfort since the car doesn’t have adjustable active dampers like the Mustang or Supra. I agree with them that probably the car could be sorted out with aftermarket suspension.

Now, their track is fairly tight, which favors precision and light weight, which is probably also why the Camaro ZL1 1LE only bested the Camaro SS 1LE on Cup2s by a half second. Probably also why the Golf R was four seconds slower than the CTR.
Agreed, though Cup 2 tires only helped the CTR LE go 0.13 s faster than the other CTR. (naturally different days affect things but still, difference should be much larger I'd think).

And we have our first (known) wrecked Z. Aside from the rear quarter, the rest should be pretty easily repairable honestly.

Checked the latest grassroots motorsport video on the Z, it was interesting to se actual logg data from the track. Quiet interesting that the accelerario was identical with the gr86 AT. Seems like Nissan didn't put much efforts in making it hande, but I guess the us after market Will solve it with some dollars

What the hell? "Disappointing", indeed...
I had a laugh when he talked about the car weighing less than 3300 lb. and being "well-balanced"! Not exactly, it's over 3500 lb. and 55F/45R, not so hot...

Using their scales they got ~3274lb which doesn't make sense since even Nissan and Car & Driver peg it at 3480lb+. Still doesn't explain why it is so slow.

newer nissan isn't exactly known for well-handling cars...

heck, even the gt-r makes up for itself with extreme power and awd--a very american method to the problem. "car not fast enough? give it more power and more weight!"

Would be strange if it was significantly lighter than the 370z, Which is a heavy thing if you put one on the scales.

Their scales have got to be *way* off! Car and Driver test I'm looking at has Z "Performance" model curb weight at 3507 lb.
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...issan-z-drive/

Like you say, even at that weight it should be accelerating significantly quicker than a GR86 automatic!
