What issue do you have with them? I am curious since I just can't picture anything.

I guess I should say they are serviceable, it's just a personal preference.

Mostly it's the wire. Just don't care for the way it "works" as storage. Small things fall through it, things on it develop "ridges", and most systems are not very flexible once you install them. I also think they are generally ugly.

That said, if you get get shelf covers for them, most of that goes away, except for maybe the flexibility.

If you home is big enough for you needs stay and renovate. The last renovation I did was our weekend doublewide trailer, started in 2012 ran though 2016. In the end, new flooring throughout, new kitchen, 2 new bathrooms, redid all the drywall, removed all the popcorn, built a couple new closets and a couple new walls, new deck out back, paint in and out. In all took about 4 years to complete and we paid as we went. Less the deck and new roof maybe had 25ish in everything which is pretty cheap but we did all the work ourselves. Place was really nice when we were done, sold in a week and we made a bunch on it.

For my 2cents on closets,,, currently we're doing Ikea stuff in our new place. We each got a dresser with a Killax storage unit on top and a couple of the open wardrobes. I can't tell you how much I like their stuff. I thought it'd be cheap and fall apart but here we are 6 years later,,, good as new. Does take up a bit of room.

Lats thing on closets,, buyers love them and they're easy to build.

The wife would like something similar to the right. We have a dresser on our room, and the other 3 are big enough for queen beds, but not for bed and dresser. That why building shelves, as long as they are aesthetically pleasing to the wife, is one of our goals.

Follow up question, the A.C would obviously be performed by a company of such expertise. But everything else, would it be preferable to hire a general contractor, or inquire individual companies separately. Im thinking the G.C would off load his work to other people and charge a premium so he could get his nice cut.

When I had the HVAC in my house replaced, I got 3 bids. One was from Home Depot. The guy they sent seemed more like a salesman that a HVAC pro. Really didn't do anything more than looking at my current system in the garage. As each day went by after he was here, he would call with more free options or lower price. Did not get a good feeling.

Second guy was here for about 10 minutes, threw out a price, and that was that. Again didn't get a good feeling.

Last guy was from a local family run HVAC company. The guy spent about 40 minutes going in the attic, in the crawl space, and showing/explaining my options. Seemed very upfront. I loved when he said, "I could sell you this system (about $4k less than the one I got), but with your vaulted ceilings, you wouldn't be happy."

All 3 were within about $1500 of each other for the size system I wanted. I felt best, and went with the third, which was the highest bid. Happy with my decision.

call HVAC companies directly. Get several bids.

No need for a GC. You use a GC for a project like building a house, they deal with the subs engineering, and permitting. For something like this just deal with HVAC guys.

If you have a really old oil heat system, it might be a good time to look into having the whole thing replaced with an electric heat pump.
If the ducting is working currently or can be adjusted with some pressure testing, that's a plus.
There may be refit incentives being offered by the state/county/whatever. If not, there will be in the next year or two.
If there's a separate chimney for the oil exhaust, you can pull that down too for more closet space.

Get a few fur coats to hang in the wardrobe and knock the back out.

Lol nah. But I do wanna get the vortex generator from the Gen2 BRZ and the STI v bars and possibly change the suspension. I am gonna ditch the lip kit cuz the drive ways in El Paso are so steep it’s impossible to get in without super aggressive angles. Plus I already lost my front lip to it all.

I like to hang everything as opposed to folding so these work better for me. My dresser is just for socks, thongs, and I rotate seasonal clothes from closet to the dresser.

We have a 7' wide 12 drawer dresser. I get half a drawer!
