I've gone back and forth and the 4.3 works pretty well. You are basically up 2-300 rpm then normal at a given speed along with the added benefit of slightly better torque multiplication. The car just feels a bit more eager to go. I am getting ready to put my 4.3 back in my car, a buddy of mine is going back to a 4.1 since he now is SC'd so he needs my regular diff.

TIL that I totally scored when I got a differential with 17K miles from a totaled car at the junk yard for $125.

I installed 4.56 final drive and love it. No real downside other than the occasional track where the gearing results in either hitting the rev limiter or doing an extra shift - but that varies from track to track.

Well, wouldn't the revs at highway speeds get a bit excessive?

3300 RPM @ 70MPH does not bother me... it is only about a 11% difference

TIL: No matter how long you live life is short. We attended (virtually) the funeral of MomHawk's 102-year-old Great Aunt. At 63, if I live to be her age, I will live a future period of time greater to when MomHawk and I started dating (we've been married 35 years).

Her great aunt lived a life well lived, only needing assistance after getting sick about 8 months ago.

There are those who follow the crowd, and those who scoff at it. The more I saw people ashamed of their Scion logo, the more I embraced mine. It's a ridiculous thing to even consider. I admit that too.

Was it a 4.10 or 4.30? 4.1’s go for around 200. 125 is still a good price even if it was a 4.10. You can get more out of them selling them to the Lexus IS300 crowd.

I read somewhere that the most common car tattoos in the world is a Mustang.. and that some folk carry Honda Civic ink with pride.. Just a thought...

lol, it's entirely unrelated to the car! was time to reduce my scrap pile. old freezer, some industrial shelving, and a neighbors old grill. people are starting to get to know i take scrap, don't even need to run around for it much anymore, it self-delivers!

people are ashamed of the scion badge?!?

funny. today, just had another person ask me what kind of car i have, they knew it wasn't a ranger, and had never seen anything else like it. 8 years old, and still plenty of people that never saw one!

Don't you remember the constant stream of badge-swapping threads/posts? Not a single one was to a Scion badge. Everybody wanted the Toyota logo. I felt a little smug when Toyota killed Scion. I think the logo looks cool.
