Turned 40 this year. I previously had a '15 BRZ I purchased new at the end of '14. Just waiting for my '23 to get here, they said next month, but I don't think it will get here by then. I've had the VON since April, but still no VIN.

I could afford a much more expensive car or something with more power, but I've been there done that. I work from home and the car won't be driven often. It's why I sold my NC last year, I put 900 miles on it in the year that I owned it, the fiance and I have been sharing a car since, because she also works from home.

More power on the street gets old quickly because about the only place you can wind them out is an onramp. And it seems silly to have $55k+ wrapped up in a depreciating asset in the garage. I'm OK with a $30k car not being used much.

Got my new 2013 BRZ almost almost 9 years ago at 58 years of age. How old am I now? 16 !

This car is a blast. Always has been. I’ll keep it until it falls apart or Toybaru announces the last gas version of it. Although an all wheel drive electric would be intriguing if it has a real world 400 mile range

Can’t worry about the future.

And who cares what the marketing people say and write?

Their job is to convince people to take an action who otherwise are too stupid to know what they like.

46 here and just ordered my third 86 (1st was a '15 FRS, then a '18 BRZ PP, now a '23 GR86). Sold the BRZ for a C7 Z51 Vert w/523 whp. The Corvette reinforced my belief that more hp isn't necessarily more fun (after 54 cars and 72 motorcycles I should have known that already, but I really wanted to try the C7).

I'm on Facebook - that's also old people these days. Tends to trend towards the younger grey hairs though. The actual kids tend to look down on FB because it's old and therefore not cool.

Lots of posts on the Twin's FB groups about "I launched an Instagram for my car." An Instagram. For a car.

I like my GR86 as much as the next guy, but I'm not creating social media accounts for it. And I'm not touching IG. Too many auto-play videos with cranked audio and no volume controls.

Damn, I sound old.

C7 is a gorgeous car (unlike the C8) and the interior is finally not an eyesore compared to past years. Worth owning even if temporarily.

Different strokes. The C8 is the only Corvette I would consider owning between C4-C8 from a looks standpoint. But no manual means no dice regardless, so I guess I won't be a Corvette owner anytime soon.

Also I debuted in ROTAX Karting last weekend...super hard on body.

Yeah I can see how you or others might prefer the mid-engine exotic profile of the c8. It just looks awkward to me from some angles compared to other true mid engine super cars like the 488 and 570. Besides to me the corvette has always stood for a front engine rwd sports car and the c7 is the epitome of that (again to me).

Yep - I can see why Vette diehards might hate it - both for the styling reasons you mentioned and the no manual reason I mentioned.

My basic thought was that a Corvette was a car I might like to own someday, but when I drove my buddy's C6, I changed my mind quickly. Just felt so big (the long nose doesn't help) and somewhat ungainly.

My car progression is as follows - '73 Cutlass Supreme, '85 Chevy Nova/Corolla (manual), '95 Infiniti J30, 2000 Audi A62.7t (manual), 2007 e92 BMW 335 coupe (manual), 2020 BRZ (manual), 2023 GR86 (manual).

So starting with the Audi, my progression has been to smaller and smaller coupes and I have never regretted it.

Still appreciate the Vettes, just not a car I am ever likely to own. I do expect that I will own a Porsche one day or another...

I’m 66. Here’s my baby. It cost less than the markups on the new Vette.

And a lot the kids on the FB groups tend to know nothing about cars other than they want to look cool, so they can post pictures to the 'gram for likes.

And have no idea what a repository of information this forum is.

The few that attempt to gain access to the plethora of information on this forum tend to quickly say something stupid, get represented as a snowflake by Tcoat, and let everyone know that this is why they will never return as they cry their way off the forum.
