BTDT Most important is to always learn and adjust.

Yeah, I know lol. I was trying to salvage a short piece so I couldn't hold it on the normal rest. If I would have held it up against the guard it would have been fine, or just tossed the scrap and grabbed a new stick

I have scar tissue left side brain. I'm mostly right handed but some things just feel better when using my left. I had to share a computer at work and home so I got use to using my left middle finger for left clicks.

At my previous employer we had a guy in one of our Mexican sites killed instantly trying to do that exact same thing. Trying to shear a too small piece and it fired out of the machine severing the spine of a dude just walking past.

Geesh. Was their nothing to catch both pieces? One one side I have a small rest on the lower jaw, and a cage a few inches above, on the cut side it directs it down. I guess on my machine I could see it coming out the front. I always line the piece up, step aside, then cycle the machine. I have seen some guys stand in front at eye level to make sure they are lined up when cutting. I usually walk over and not so politely ask them WTF are you doing. Of course I am the one with the idiot mark right now lol

They took the guard off. In order to put the small piece in. It was too short to reach with it on.
The guy that did it was the typical 30 year employee that “I have done this thousands of times with no problem” guys.

Oh, fuck that.

Now that you got me thinking about it I am going to put a guard to block off in front of the shears since we load from the side anyway and new shop rule is if you can’t cut it without holding it in place it goes in the bandsaw.

That's an ow!
Hope it's healing well and not turning greenish from our lack of cumulative sage advise.

Lotus too short (length) and trucks too tall (clearance)?

Even sideways? I lift front/back for maintenance but sideways when doing balance and alignments so the jacks fit between the platforms I use.
No help if the jack is too short...

I think this is one of those cases where a picture would really clarify what you are saying. (Because it sounds like crazy talk to me at least)
