If you're hearing AWD then you're not hearing anything accurate. This car was intentionally designed to be RWD, and the STI version isn't going to change anything that significant.

I wouldn't expect an STi model for a few years. They can barely keep up with demand as it is right now. Adding another layer of complexity to the lineup would only make matters worse.

Without AWD then it wouldn't be an STI would it?

And by this wonderful logic:
Without AWD it wouldn't be an WRZ would it?
Without AWD it wouldn't be an Subaru would it?
Without a turbo it wouldn't be an STi would it?

STi is just Subaru's in house tuning group. They can tune a BRZ just as well as they can tune a WRX.

ummm when has STI = AWD?

Never.

STI is Subaru Tecnica International, which is just a division of FHI that preps cars for WRC and in terms of it's factory involvement with Subaru it is just another trim level. Nothing more.

Wrong again.

Pleo
lucra
sambar
trezia
dias
impreza
forester
legacy
r1
r2

These are all of the names that I could think of for Suby's that are offered in front, rear, 4wd and/or AWD.

So AWD doesn't make a Suby. But in the US it's only been AWD vehicles since '95.

One of my customers traded in her '94 Impreza FWD today. By your logic it should have disintegrated already, right?

LMAO ^

I highly doubt anything crazy like that out of the sti brz, I would think maybe some carbon fiber parts along with super light wheels and maybe 240 hp-ish

The STI will be announced in December and go on sale in March in Japan. Expect to see carbon panels, forged wheels, big brakes and some form of mystery forced induction. Maybe a variable vane twin scroll unit, maybe the electric turbo that is supposed to be in the WRX. Expect to be surprised by at least 300hp, 320lb-ft and 2600 pounds for around 30k.*

*I heard from a dealer who heard from an inside source inside Toyota who is friends with an engineer at FHI who is married to an IT guy for Subaru who saw an email from an engineer that works in the department that shares a break room with STI.

i would think they would squeeze out as many sales from the N/A models before offering the STI models. also they are having a hard time meeting demands as it is with the N/A models. well have to wait and see, i'd guess the following year at the earliest.
