Never realized how much sleep I would lose having a dog. Got woken up at like 1:30am and haven't been able to sleep since. Oh and now the birds are starting to chirp.

I have hobbies that could fill probably about 20% of my time but they all cost money. Since I never worked anyplace long enough to build up a great pension money would be very tight at this point. It all boils down to not having “good” paying jobs until well later in life so playing catch up on getting the things we wanted. In 5 more years all our debt will be paid off and there will be at least enough to do things.

lol. watching my brothers dog this week. so easy. i wake up an hour earlier(like where my alarm actually goes off instead of waking up a half-hour early, just long enough to pack a lunch) to walk him before work, and walk him at night. otherwise, i leave enough food and water out for him during the day, and he lives.

having a dog is easy.

My dad’s solution to retirement was to get his real estate license and work more hours then his regular job. He’s a super social person so he loves it.

I just passed month 2 of retirement. It's frickin fantastic. Lots of projects in the queue,, just hope the money lasts. LOL

It still hasn't really sunk in that I don't have to wale up and go to work. Strange.

See that is just it. I still enjoy going to work. If I woke up every day and had to force myself to face going in it may be a different matter.

What finally pushed me over the edge wasn't the work, I loved most parts of that. It was a new group of people I worked with, and to an extent, for. We made several bad hires, they engineered a takeover of my department and turned a great place to be into a social superfund site.

After 4 years of it, I was ready to go, and they were happy I left. Win - Win, I guess, although I'd really prefer to see them lose - BIG.

Can't have everything so I'm happy with what and where I am. We're at zero debt, and, fortunately, I shouldn't have to start cashing out my 403B for support for another 4 years or so. Hopefully, the market will have staged a modest come back by then.

As for hobbies. Mine can be pretty capital intensive, but I made most of the capital investments (cars, tools, camera bodies, lenses, etc) in the last 4 or 5 years I worked, I still have to maintain them, but that's not a huge problem so far. And as much as I'd like one of Nikon's new Z9s I can probably live a few more years without it.

Making the capital investments is exactly what I am in the process of doing.
