I don't even understand the secrecy on the pricing. Is not like they are going to have a never ending supply like buying a regular Corolla. Every Car Enthusiast website agrees that even the base model will be hard to get. So why even bother holding out on the price.

What I want to know is that for those who get it, if there will be a no-resell clause until a certain period is met, and that dealerships can be reported for ridiculous mark-ups.

Ford is already considering skipping the dealerships for their F150 Lightning, whether that actually happens is another thing, but at least is in the cards.

Ford wasn't very successful in upholding its no sale on the GT. Of the two cases that went to court, one was settled out of court (John Cena) and the other that went to Mecum's Auction Ford lost the restraining order on and the car was sold.

I think the traditional OEMs are going to have to do something. I'm seeing the same issue with the Cadillac Lyriq pre-orders. Some dealerships are selling for MSRP, and others are selling for as much as $20,000 over MSRP even though all the pre-orders were set at a specific price (with the normal caveat that the OEM doesn't control pricing).

Most of the time, Doug doesn't know anything. He only ask low-end Toyota staff there who are just hired temporary there to help with the media press. He rarely go ask the headshot the legit questions.

PLUS when they say "It'll be very competitive!" That means, they have not finalized the number.

It's pretty tough to imagine Toyota putting a no-sale restriction on a car, even something like this.

And as for punishing dealers, they've been allowed to hold too much power through their lobbying groups, so any real change attempted by auto manufacturers will just result in mostly losing lawsuits.

If the base, no option Core starts at 40k, then I'm out. $40k was where I was expecting the Circuit to be at.

The no option Core will probably sit at 35k ish. But a Core with the performance pack is the Type R fighter essentially. So close to 40k isn’t crazy.

What’s weird is how the regular GR Corolla RZ in Japan is the Circuit Edition stateside and it’s not limited for them.

That's where I anticipated the base no option Core to start at, and optioned out to be under 40k. I was thinking the Circuit would be 40-42k.

You are very very optimistic.
If it was just a gussied up Corolla maybe.
The XSE Apex is almost $30k and gets you some aero, special wheels and badges.
Expecting a true GR car with a whole different drivetrain, body panels, suspension and interior to be $35k is a pipe dream.

But its so goddamn easy to do!!!!!
/internet

seriously though, check out the price of a brand new Civic Type R and a brand new Golf R.

The base (core) GR Corolla will (at the very least) most likely cost the same as whichever one of those has the cheaper starting price.

So $40k to $45k.
I am guessing that with the limited number planned it will be between those.

i would think that too.
Anytime the manufacturer mentions the car being "competitively priced" it always never undercuts the cheapest alternative option. Plus when it comes to Toyota they always seem to be a few grand more than the cheapest alternative option.

The price point is probably moot anyway since unless you are an Instagram "influencer", YouTube "expert", Clickbait Blog "reporter" or work at a dealership the probability of actually getting your hands on one of the first year or so is remote.

MSRP doesn’t matter. They’ll be fetching $50k at dealers all day when they finally come out.

Toyota themselves probably know that and that’s why they won’t say pricing just yet lol.

Welllllllll WE are putting MSRP will start at ____ but we know the dealers are gonna charge WAY over that so don’t worry what the price is.
