the makeup air systems i've done are all really simple. they wire in just like a doorbell. transformer makes 16-24v power, wire goes to a flow switch that's inline with the fan ducting to detect when there's airflow, goes to a damper that auto-closes, and uses power to open. all you'd need is a standard switch to jump the flow switch connections to manually override the system and open the damper.

Appreciate the cabinet tip. And GCs are tough to find not booked out unless they're unknown or shady. It's going to be a lot of work on the electric side since we definitely don't have space in the breaker box, some added plumbing and gas line...plus the usual demo, drywall, possibly floor, paint, and installation. been saving up for years. just whatever you do, don't go through a big box store for contracting services! their install prices are around +18-30% that they take for 'generating the lead' right off the top... turns a simple $2k bath renovation into a $10k-15k job really quick with little to show for it... the kitchen remodels are just plain bonkers what people pay for spec-grade cabinets and laminate counters...

From the stairs you can see the big low window on the left that was out of frame on previous picture. I had to move the slider down 2 feet to get enough room on the wall for the range and fridge to be there with 24” cabinet between. Yes the breaker panel is in the living room Wall between kitchen and living room was about 18 past the panel. I have no idea how my big sectional couch is going to fit and not block something.

i know how much of a pain moving the slider was! but it'll definitely pay off in the long run!
