TIL, or maybe it should be Today I Did The Math, that for the UK to have the same number of McDonalds that the US has (Continental US has 1 for every 233 square miles), the UK would have to have 1 every 5.9 square miles. Given there are is about 1 per square mile from my house I'm thinking there are some large swaths of the US that are Big Mac Free. Most likely thanks to the western US Parks and the desert.

Georgia has more Waffle Houses (430+) than McDonalds (365), and that's not a bad thing.

In 2002 I visited a friend in Nova Scotia. As we were leaving Halifax along a major road out of the city I was incredulous at the number of fast food chain eateries I had never heard of.

Connecticut loves Walgreens/CVS and their Dunkin Donuts. It so ridiculous at times that near my house there are 2 Dunkin, on the same street, just across from each other, and a Walgreens in the middle.

Drugs and shitty coffee is the NE way.

There are places in Georgia where you can stand outside a Waffle House and see another Waffle House. When I worked at "a major airline headquarters in DC" there were three within walking distance of the IT Building.

It's not unusual for them to build two on an Interstate off-ramp if one is consistently too busy. It's cheaper for them to build a second rather than to build a larger one.
