My hood has popped up like 3x in this manner ... I've been far too lazy to deal with it.
Thankfully I haven't had the need to drive anywhere lately.

My driver's ed teacher told us if that ever happened to:
- pull over - turn off the car - remove key from ignition (it was 1985) - exit vehicle - throw keys off the road into the weeds as hard as you can - call for ride I guess hoods were heavier then. |

Sounds like the latch is fine, but the pull release cable is not. Steel cable is likely corroded inside and is stuck in the "popped/open" position. I'd replace the hood cable pull and lubricate the latch.
Cable is P/N: 57330CA000 and is less than $20 Better hurry though....only showing 3 left in the country...
