No.

And not a car. A car is driven by its wheels. Just a very low flying jet.

Wheel driven (and piston engine) record is 470MPH set in 2012 at Bonneville by the Speed Demon Streamliner (3,000+HP big block Chevy engine)

It was doing 481MPH at the exit of the second qualifying mile but world records use two-way averages.

I have more respect for that. Don't know why, they both need top notch engineers to push the envelope. Just like the "car" thing better.

Frankly, I do to, it's just feels like a truer "car" but then the ultimate land speed record isn't about "fastest car" its about the fastest vehicle that stays attached to the ground during it's trip. They did call the SSC a car though.

That's why they have classes.

Also amazing that the wheel driven car did 481MPH with around 3,000HP and it took SSC 110,000HP to go 767MPH.

Drag coefficient usually jumps dramatically as you approach the sound barrier. And then it decreases as you move beyond it.

Yea, understand. I just meant that seeing it practically spelled out in numbers is amazing.

Seeing how I have a room painting project today, would it be a good idea to invest in a spray paint gun with a compressor? At least a compressor would be nice, but I already have a battery charging pack that comes with a compressor. Maybe I could just rent the equipment.

Should probably clarify, we decided to re-paint all 3 bedrooms with possibly down the line redo the ceiling paint and the main bathroom. That's quite a bit of painting, so maybe investing in the spray gun wouldn't be a bad idea. I see there is a pattern on the boss lady about wanting to re-paint areas in the house every year.
