First thing I thought about when I saw that picture was my collection of ‘Mars Attacks’ cards that I collected almost 60 years ago. I lost the original cards, but I have a reproduction set that I found on EBay some time ago. The first fifty cards tell the story of how the Martians kicked our collective butts with ray guns and giant mutant insects. In the last five cards, we returned the favor on Mars. Years later, I had a birthday cake made for my daughter that had circus clowns lounging about on the cake. If you stopped long enough to study the cake, you would see that the clowns were all gunned down St. Valentines Day Massacre style. The red gel icing was a great effect.
