Is it worth waiting till Jan/Feb to order MY2013?
My original plan was to grab a Manual GTS start of 2013.
But then the whole 18 month wait thing came out which means I will probably have to wait till beginning of 2014 to get my MY2013. Do you guys think I should just wait till May/June 2013 and book the MY2014? Or look at used ones around Feb/March 2013 (if there is any)? I do have another car so transport wont be a problem.

I reckon the wait should have died down a fair bit in 6 months, people will start re-selling them so that will take away from some of the demand, and others would have just cancelled their order.

This is not helpful:
Maybe demand will out strip supply for the next 2 years. Maybe there will be a glut of them in 12 months time. Who knows? You are looking for concrete answers when there aren't any. |

In 18 months time there will be much more 'newer' cars on the market. The 86/BRZ has really fired up development in the affordable sports car market - Nissan and Mazda (and Hyundai) seem to be hard at work to bring out something (Honda is still asleep). By 2014 the new WRX should also be out. We've also seen a price drop on new cars coming out so who knows in 18 months. $40k for a GTS 86 might no longer be value for money.
So if you do put your deposit down for the car make sure you can get out of it easily because 18 months is a damn long time. |

if i werent a fussy pants " i want a new one" picky bastard then i would wait until 2013. just speaking for myself here. 2013 may just be opposite to 2012, they might be stacking them 5 high and 10 wide with no buyers or...or they may not. But as people get miles and months under their belts you may find they will on sell it in the classifieds. i reckon this will happen. |

I'm waiting to buy second hand in 2014 as per my original plan when the car was announced. I think with all the hype, although I'm tempted I might just wait it out.

you seem to have the money so put a deposit down now only $500, and make sure you can get out of the contract, who knows maybe someone will cancel their order and you'll be called to see if you want one now

Thanks for the response guys.
I think that it would be best to wait till early 2013 and see how the market is doing.

I would put a grand down on an order ASAP and just pull out if you find a better option.
