I'm pretty sure while in D you click paddle once an it shows the gear you are in then you click again to change gears. After a few seconds it goes back to D. I could be wrong. I'll try it again. The last few days I've been driving my Tacoma 4x4. I've been neglecting her since I bought the my FRS. That has been strange sitting so high and it handles way different.

The plastic in the inside gets scratched too easily, especially the door panels. Everyone knows what I'm talking about.

I just posted my impressions. You should have a mod just delete any irrelevant posts, and edit the existing posts for continuity.
The only thing that should be in there are "Thanks" for the posts rather than the general, "please listen to my 2 cents dribble" |

Subaru needs to improve their paint quality and painting process. My BRZ has numerous paint defects its not even funny (not sure how it made it past QC). Since the defects are at the rear of the car I try to not look at them, but they are there. I should raise a big stink over the defects but I don't want half the car repainted and have it not match.

2013 Scion FR-S Auto Owner-
Transmission (Auto): The only complaint I have, as most people know, is that I wish that the auto had a launch feature or was able to get off the line faster. For those that seem to think the auto launches fine, Id suggest finding a friend with a manual to compare it against. You will see what I am talking about. It is the one thing that is causing the auto to be so slow compared to the manual. I cant describe it and I wish that I had taken video of my track time when my friend and I went to the drag strip to see just how much of a difference there was between auto and manual. After the initial launch and when the car got past the RPM where it lugged it seemed to keep up very well even though the manual was still pulling ever so slightly ahead. This was run after run after run. I feel adamant that if the auto was able to launch without having to lug up to speed that it would be the best damn auto on the market that is not a DSG. Other than that major flaw (in my opinion) the auto is amazing. Drool worthy. I mean the launch of the auto is going to hurt a LOT of auto x times which is what I am planning on doing. I dont care that the manual is faster. I expect it to be. What I did not expect was my friend being able to run a 15.5 with a huge speaker box in the back along with all of the spare tire components while I was able to manage only a 16.4 at best with everything known to man stripped out of the back of the car. I dont like comparing cars, I hate it. But I feel this example would best explain how disappointed I was with the times. When you used to drive a 2008 Pontiac G5GT with 171 HP and 167 TQ and stock it ran a 16 flat with a slush box auto and weighed in at 2991 lbs with everything in it, its a little disheartening when your 2013 Scion FR-S runs a mediocre 16.5-16.7 with everything in it at 200 HP and 151 TQ and weighs in at 2800 lbs. Again this is not because I care about the 1/4 mile times but because I was expecting no more than a 5 tenth of a second difference from auto to manual. Yes, I am well aware that gearing as well as when that peak power is made makes a difference. But people with an auto can not launch at the right RPM range to allow the car to snap up and go like the manual. Instead we just chug along until we get to the right point. |

BRZ Limited MT:
-Engine Performance (Feel, noises, etc) Lacking low-RPM torque, really needs to be turbo-charged. DI chirp is just unacceptable. -Exhaust Sound Performance (Sound Quality) My preference would be to NOT pipe sound into the cabin, but I understand that some like to hear their cars more than I do -Transmission (Performance, Quality) Clutch engagement point should be moved inward toward the floor -Tire Performance (Wear, Noise, Handling) A car designed for superior handling should come with higher performance tires -Interior Parts/Panels (Fitment, gap, deformation, etc) The side extensions around the center control cluster were designed solely to torment people of height...if I had a dollar for every time I've drilled my knee hopping into the car without being careful, I'd be a wealthy man. Note that I'm 6'4". -Unusual Interior Noise (Squeaking, rattling, etc and location) There was a rhythmic whining coming from the right-front that I attributed to tire noise that seems to have subsided some. There is an intermittent soft thumping/rubbing sound that seems to come from the trunk at highway speeds for which I have yet to pin down a source. -Front Seat Functionality The seats are too firm to provide good comfort to a large range of passenger sizes and shapes. While the seats hold one in place nicely, they are a bit hard and cause me some sciatic nerve issues on longer drives. The passenger seat does this to my wife within minutes of getting in the car, hence she never rides with me. A slightly softer seating material would probably mitigate some of this, as would adding more seating adjustments. For me, as a taller driver, raising the seat front to provide thigh support would be wonderful. Providing some lumbar adjustment would be great for shorter drivers like my wife. -Rear Seat Function (... troll question? haha) Oxymoron? -Exterior Parts/Panels (Fitment, Gap, Wheel/Tire Size, Design of Wheels, etc) I hate the little Toyota dimpling of the hood around the front logo, it really detracts from the elegant lines of the car. -Interior Function (Visor, Mirrors, etc) Visors need a stiffer spring-rate, I can no longer tuck my wallet there without running the risk of it flying out. -Audio Equipment Performance Lack of a high-fidelity option is a minus, but then this has been a Subaru weakness for decades. -Center Cluster Switch usability Functional, but the layout doesn't imply significant amounts of development thought. Could use some cleaning up. Last edited by Stu baru; 08-01-2012 at 04:26 PM. |

FRS owner here
"I" feel that the door position locks could be spaced a bit better i'm talking about those little grooves in the door hinge that lock the door in 3 seperate locations (barely open, middle, and fully open) I feel that the middle position in it's current state is too wide, ina lmost any normal parking situation it requires that no other car's are present if you park in the center of a standard parking space and if there is a car, the other car has to be perfectly parked as well, if it is even an inch closer to your car, i am forced to be mindful of how far i open the door. I don't mind being cautious, but it is a pain because i never know if the "spring" force of the door might accidentally force it open and touch the other car or a wall i know it may sound silly, but even like 2-3 degrees less of swing at the medium setting is all that i'm suggesting.

Scion FR-S and I know this is beating a dead horse, but the engine with the DI fuel system or whatever is making the cricket noise.

-Other Electronic Switch function/usability
Can they adjust the sensitivity of the Passenger seat belt sensor? Just putting my phone on the seat causes the alarm to beep. |

There ought to be an option to automatically lock the doors at a certain speed for manual drivers, or when shifting from Park to Drive for automatic drivers. Conversely, the doors should unlock when the car is turned off for manual drivers, or when the shifter is moved from Drive to Park for automatic drivers. Some variant of this would be OK too.
