My sales guy just called me with an update, no allocations of GR86's. They received an update last week, there were no allocations of GR86's in the Boston area. He claimed the factory didn't make any, I don't think that's true, but it is what it is.

Same. I'm just willing to weather the storm. I remember awhile back when I talked to Toyota of Orange and asked them about their mark up and legit said, "That puts me in another price bracket" and he was willing to back off a bit.

But still, I'm more interested in Oakland than locally.

Admittedly, I go back and forth between getting a Base and having a budget for PPF vs getting a Premium.

Try for a Premium and see if you can get the PPF thrown in. Not likely when they are marking up but you never know if you don't try.

Stopped my my dealer. He was basically like "I don't see getting one for months to a year". He was not being an A**, he was nice about it... I am not sure what to think..
He also has 60 Tundra's on order and is only getting an estimated 2/month. He looked on the computer and said 88 cars are coming in as manual and most orders are going "South East".

If this is true, which I'm starting to think it is, I may move one and look on Carvana/Vroom for old gen and camaro. Inventory on those sites are going down too...

I may try. It just doesn't seem likely in CA. I'm fortunate to have really great PPF shops in my area.

Honestly, I'm really overthinking this whole thing. I'd be happy with Base or Premium. The Base makes me want to upgrade, but I'd want the alcantara seats and interior. It's the only thing stopping me from wanting Base altogether.

Premium, otoh, makes me want to just get camber bolts, a precise alignment, a brake upgrade, and be done with it.

Finally saw one in person. It was a red GR86 out on the road. Looked good. I think I’ll pick one up in a few years once they release a performance pack and after Harrop releases a new supercharger. I can only see this or an used Emira or 911/Cayman in the future, once I finish the life on my current car. Nothing else interests me.

Running well. Going in for a second dyno this Wednesday. If everything holds, I’m hoping for something close to 400whp/300tq at 10psi.

While the setup is nice, and a turbo has some fun drama, a positive displacement supercharger on the FA24 should be a responsive and potent platform. On track, the turbo K24 has near instant spool, but the urgency/throttle response with the SC is just far superior. It is as close as anyone will get to a NA sensation. The car feels like it has a V8, but the advantage of a supercharged small displacement engine is great rev characteristics, high rpm and a different sound. A V8 sound is great and the turbo K24 isn’t bad, but the high pitched and slight rumble of a supercharged boxer with an Ace or comparable header at WOT is pretty nice and angry. It is like a V8 without the weight penalty, and the power delivery is very smooth and linear.

That's a bummer, but thanks for letting me know we may have some coming down here to Florida. Going to keep my eyes peeled. Haha.

Earlier this year they had my exact spec I wanted, sat on it trying to get top dollar. I think it finally went for $2k markup. I hope that $2k was worth me never under any circumstances considering buying from them (They told me $5k when I first reached out to them.) "No markup" seems to be taking off to some degree - I'm seeing it touted as a feature on dealer websites. Hopefully it pays dividends and becomes the norm.

I hear you, I have heard $5K and $7K markups. With shipping that puts me at $9K over MSRP at most places. Unfortunately I have a self-inflicted need to get a MT car by a certain timeline so I am probably going to pay a significant markup when the next allocations arrive. Oh well, sometimes you have to pay to play first.

Unfortunately no. Pretty sure only dealers can search out across the country easily. There’s not much point to doing it, aside from maybe finding dealers that seem to get a lot of cars in general (maybe worth it.)

My method was to search ‘Toyota dealer’ on google maps in PC browser. Lists all in that general area along the bottom of the window. Go along one by one to each website and check ‘all new inventory.’ It’s tedious but I could check every dealer within 250 miles or so (3 major metros) in 15 mins. Most dealer sites show everything in their pipelines there, though they are slow to update.

Be warned that any manual 86’s you find there will either have been reserved before they hit the site or are waiting for someone to bite on a big markup.

Cars.com has 102 "available" cars in the US. Some are pending sale.
