That's the beauty of it, because it can generate a lot more power than published.. out of 1.6l engine......The little engine that could.

Is probably also one of the factors of why now I'm starting to believe ichi's estimated MSRP. Just by overall hype around it, the value is going to skyrocket, and availability will be limited across the board.

The timing is almost perfect as we are moving into Electric vehicles, manufacturers going all out to make a quick few millions because enthusiasts are going to try to hold on to the last examples of ICE models.

I doubt they will make a whole lot of money on these. What they are banking on is more that people remember their name when the EVs show up. Still a good investment.

Theres no replacement for displacement!

Except with a turbocharged 3 cyl! Same power, better gas mileage! (except its better gas mileage when you avoid spinning the turbos much....and when you do spin the turbos for the same power...same gas mileage!)

The smaller turbo motor should have better thermal efficiency than a larger NA motor. The turbo scavenges otherwise wasted thermal energy, so the mileage should be better.

I guess the next question is, do they make any money selling these AWD GR cars.

The answer would lie with the GR Yaris....but we don't know the answer.

I get 4 mpg less in my car if I'm on boost (not even flooring it). Lol, but turbo cars are more about smiles per gallon anyway.

Probably not much. The margin on the 86 was very thin. They aren't in the performance car market to make a profit though. They make the performance cars for name recognition and future appliance car sales.
This is pretty standard across the industry where performance cars are more promotional than anything.
I was once talking to a Chrysler exec and they said they lost money on every Hellcat sold. Didn't matter because they more than made up for that in brand promotion. Ford has never hid that they make nothing on the very top Mustangs. Advertising ain't cheap.

$32K GR Corolla, $35k Nissan Z and $59999 C8. Things the internet wanted that were never going to happen.

Oh im aware, i was more thinking it corrolated somewhat with how they'll decide to price it.

Unlike something like the LFA, where they lost money with every car they sold (which would indicate price was never going to be a factor for that car).

Would the GR Corolla be sold at a loss and are they willing to just sell it at a loss? (obviously they'd be able to make up the losses just by selling the regular corolla), is it something they could sell at a competitive price and still break even? or is there some semblance of profit available?
