It looks great on paper but a B48 just isn’t that exciting imho, even in a <2700# car, at least with the 86 you shed a ton of the weight vs the Supra. I can see a scenario where a 2.0 Supra is more satisfying, mild tune/piggyback, priority on leaving it more oem as a ‘low hassle sport cruiser’, you’ll surprise a helluva lot of people driving it well. But give me the car that’s 300# lighter.

How much camber can you get on a new Supra these days? That might be a bigger problem then anything else lol.

It fine. I'm running 275's with 2.8° and 2.7° in the rear with the SPL LCA and endlinks. There are more recently camber plates on the market that claim >3.5°


Stock there is a little bit of adjustment in the rear and nothing on the front.

FWIW the cars are set up horribly from the factory. Toyota gave the front a degree of toe inward on the front and none on the rear, making it very twitchy feeling. Camber wise, I want to say mine had 1.4° camber on everything except one of the back wheels which was 2.0°!

I have zero clue on what the 2.0's can achieve with the smaller wheels/calipers/rotors but, I imagine it is similar.

GR86 and even my current 86 over the Supra. Just a personal preference thing. If I'm gonna be in a small coupe, I want small coupe weight.

Yes it's faster and more comfortable. I worked with BMW for a while and drove pretty much every single new car for a few years at release events and all their M cars at special events at Thermal. They're great cars; just not what I want.

My friend in Taiwan showed me some dealer material about Manual Supra coming 2022 Q4 so probably 2023 Jan/Feb for them *they getting GR86 at Q3, I have a screenshot of the slide show in chinese.

But ya that would mean the earliest would be 2024 model year for North America since it won't be here till 2023 summer.

I’m a BMW guy but the Supra doesn’t do anything for me outside of the B58. I have two friends who bought them for track use (one coming from a first gen BRZ) and both have been very disappointed, one even selling his back to the dealer pretty quickly after a few track days and a bunch of money spent trying to set it up to his liking. Out of those two I would pick the GR86 for sure, but my FRS replacement is personally going to be a F22 M240i with a 6 speed.

This. If I got a Z, Supra, Corvette, Cayman, or Evora it would get used much less than the GR86. I don't want to sink that kind of money into something that mostly sits in the garage, only to drive my van any time I need to bring a bike case, bike, or even a few suitcases. The Twins and M2 are the only sports cars that offer that usability, and the M2 seems heavy and tall, more of a sportified sedan.

Same here. Went wild camping in Norway for 2+ weeks with just that car and it wasn't even filled to the brim.
It also got used as the main "renovation van" for our apartment refurbishment, and did many a trip to the hardware store to get 2.4m long (EU standard, about 95in) wood planks or various crap.

In other words, it works really well as an only car.

I have a car that run around the ring around 45 seconds faster than the supra. But I am still getting a gr86 because driving isn’t always about how fast. I enjoy the engagement of a sub 3000 lbs, low powered manual coupe with short wheelbase and low center of gravity that wants to throw its tail out on every corner. It’s a different kind of fun that can be achieved on the street.

Really enjoy the feeling going around a corner in a light car.


And even with a M/T Supra coming, I'd still take the GR86 because of this.

But I'd probably take a GR Corolla over both. Sorry wrong thread
