3500km on the clock now, out with the factory fluids and in goes Motul. Also upgraded the reverse lights to something alot brighter. So far shifting does feel smoother but I won't commit to that answer until I put some more driving into it.

Tranny, Motul Gear 300 75W90.
Diff, Motul Gear 300 LS 75W90.
Engine, Motul 8100 Eco-Lite 0W20.

These are the bulbs I got off amazon.

i always love how cheap amazon bulbs ignore all of the rules of thermodynamics and people expect them to work indefinitely.

my boss keeps buying $4 garbage bulbs for the dome lights in the work vans, then complains they go out all the time. so i offer to build some for him. parts-only were $35 for 1. he complained that cost too much. but guess which one is still working...

Do you have a suggestion of what to get then? Or what to look out for for someone who doesn't know these things about thermodynamics?

My money is always with diode dynamics. They have great customer service and a reasonable warranty period. I have never had an issue.

Checked oil level after hitting the 1,000 mile break-in threshold yesterday. Just a hair under the max line. 👍🏼

buy from somewhere reputable, with known-good customer service. good companies don't ever want to deal with bad products and will make the effort to stock quality stuff.

but quality doesn't come cheap.

This brand seems to have really good reviews so I figured I would give them a shot. If it becomes a problem, then definitely diode dynamics will be used to replace them.

Finally passed the break in period and did couple of pulls.

I must say the speaker sounds so bad, will be disconnecting it asap

for most reverse light operations, it'll likely be fine, as it'll be limited on-time. it's just a really poor thermal design. it akin to bragging about building a car that only costs $1,000. but it only runs for 10 minutes at a time..

most spec sheets for led chips at moderate power levels will require approximately 4-6x's the size of each chip in un-used space around each led chip for heat dissipation purposes. and all those design specs call for a aluminum-core circuit board to further aid in pulling the heat away from the led chips. that board clearly doesn't have the minimum spacing around each chip, and also uses fiberglass circuit board material instead of aluminum, which is used for it's excellent electrical insulation characteristics, but is inherently a great thermal insulator as well.

it was built to the price point, and fit through the bulb opening. neither of which a proper-sized, proper-material circuit board would've done.

Glad to hear the video is happening! How was the weather? Good guy to hang with. The real question is how much faster was Randy then you in your own car (the 1st gen)?

Randy is 1.5 - 2 seconds faster than me in both cars...

Here is a quick video of Saturdays member day at AMP... a Noble m600 showed up and spun a ton then caught on fire. The Noble though is a very pretty car, but also very slow as it got passed by an econo-coupe sports car. Driver could have saved $220k if they just bought a BRZ/86 instead.
