Has anyone installed an amp in their base '22 yet?

I just got my car two days ago. It's a BRZ Premium with the 6 speaker stereo. I went to look in the trunk to find where the amp/wiring is, and there is none! Oh no! I have a wiring harness left over from my first gen that I planned on using to tap into the factory wiring, but there doesn't seem to be any back there!

Has anyone tried to intall an amp yet, and what did you do? Are we going to have to tap into the wiring behind the headunit? This is kind of a bummer. I thought it would be plug n play like the last car. What should I do?

yeah, the information so far is the limited's with the 8-speaker systems would have the amp.

given toyota's love for using the same connectors for decades, should be able to use the same connector with a slightly different pinout behind the radio.

Do you have the base or upgraded stereo? Because the base model does not have the trunk amp and wiring like the first gen did. I went hunting for it the day after I got my car and there's nothing back there.

It was about 45$ in amazon parts and about an hour of time, I had to remove the wires from the harness ( pretty easy with a needle ) then rewire with the correct colors.

SOme guys are that forum are looking into making a jumper harness for the head unit but nothing has come out yet. I have seen one youtube video removing the stock unit but it didn't go into details on the wiring.
