As always, MX-5 is the superior toy. 86 platform is the better car; that as of right now arguably handles better than the toy.
We're all spoiled AF with these cars. |

I think these guys do a good job in their reviews. I live pretty close to the roads they feature and they're as fun to drive on as they look

If it weren’t for them I’m wouldn’t have known about the 86. They were the reason I bought my 2020. The fact that Todd had his FRS as his daily driver even in the winter he completely sold me on it.

Yeah me too. I was torn between the choices of nd2, 86, and wrx and their comparison videos and Todd's shared experience was what convinced me to pick the twin over the other 2 choices.

Yeah I think they did a good job with the comparison. I owned an ND2 RF, and I pretty much agree with everything said in the video. The ND2 is really great and very unique, too many reviewers got hung up on the body roll and all that but forget to mention that even while leaning how composed and responsive the car is. It's like how people see stiff suspensions and unnecessarily heavy steering and think oo sporty, like the s2000, people think that because it has less body roll through a corner it's more composed, despite its characteristic snap oversteer. And just like the twins, people forget that from the factory, these cars come with tiny tires.

Agree. Heavier steering doesn't equate to better feel. Both the Lotus Evora and the Ferrari 458 have light steering, full of feel. Evora may have the best feel of any assisted system I've driven. It also had an incredibly stiff chassis. Which allowed for softer springs. Sharp responses and better ride quality than a Cadillac lol. Had an S2K also. AP2. I found it to be less than the sum of its parts. Poor steering feel and not the stiffest chassis. Also too sensitive to inputs and they don't like to slide. Another example is the RX8 vs the 350Z. RX8 by a mile for me. Much sharper handling, lighter, lighter steering yet better feel and it didn't break your back. The added stiffness in the updated chassis reminds of my RX8s. So underrated as a driver's car. |

I don’t know if I believe these guys. I don’t see any evidence in their GR86 videos that they know what limit driving is. It just sounds like they’re parroting a bunch of motoring cliches and superlatives. They have beautiful video work and editing but the driving leaves something to be desired.
Matt Farrah’s video driving the base GR on track during press day and the BRZ in the canyons, winding it out? That sold me on the car. |

I can't stand their back and forth style and the ever building music in this video. I've never been a fan. Just saying.

Their channel caters to the same viewers who watched Car and Driver type programming back in the day on TNN Sunday mornings. Their channel is literally called Everyday Driver, normal joe shmoe drivers, understanding that the review is on point I feel.

I cant help but feel that Paul is unable to tell us how he really feels.
Todd on the other hand sounds more genuine. In the 86 vs supra vid for example he chose the Supra but it sounds like hes making up excuses to try to justify picking the Supra without outright slamming the 86. |
