I've done about 5/6 track days now and have always wondered how people do track weekends. I love Willow Springs, but it's about 2:30 hours away. Would I go to a motel6 or something nearby after the Saturday track day? Or do you guys make the drive back home. I can't imagine driving a cumulative 10 hours to and from the track for a track weekend...

My experience is that people either camp at the track either with a tent, RV or in their car trailer, or go to a hotel nearby. I bring my tent and a rain/sun tent to protect my gear and give some shade. If the track allows it, Camping at the track is nice, you stay in the « zone » all weekend.

You probably don't need any kind of special brake fluid. Off-the-shelf name-brand DOT4 or DOT5.1 (*not* DOT5!) is going to be fine and is readily available for short $.

For pads there are a ton of options, you might ping CSG for recommendation. I run CSG C2 pads, big $$$ but they do a lot of stuff very well and last a long time.

You might consider camber bolts combined with offset front strut top mounts to get some desperately needed front camber for reasonable $$$.

Might think about tires as well. Primacies aren't as forgiving at the limit, particularly in the wet. Any decent 200tw or even 300+tw "max perf" tire will be a massive improvement at the track.

I've used Hawk HPS or HPS 5.0 on my 86 and on my previous car (BMW) for both daily and HPDE use for years.

If you are going to do this regularly, dedicated street and track pads are probably the better option. But I only do 2-3 HPDE days a year and have had zero issues going this route.

The main track I go to (High Plains Raceway) is only an hour away. So for that one I drive out in the morning and back at the end of the day.

The other track I've gone to in Pueblo is closer to 2 hours away. For it I usually drive down the day before and stay at a hotel, then drive home after my sessions end.
